I currently have 4 Gig of this.. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-136-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813 in my Asus P5K Premium.

I'm just about to order Vista 64 and was gonna order another 4 Gig of the same stuff while DDR2 prices are still cheap.

The only problem I've read on the forums here are that you may have to bump up the northbridge voltage a notch or 2 to get 4 sticks of RAM working.

Although in my M/B manual it states "Due to chipset resource allocation, the system may detect less than 8 GB system memory when you installed four 2 GB DDR2 memory modules"

Does anyone here have an Asus P5K with 8GB of RAM working ok?

I got a Q6600 @ 3.3GHz (367*9)

I'm just hoping someone here has a P5K with 8GB of RAM that can confirm it works without issues.

It should work without issues, particularly if you update the bios. Worst comes to the worst then it'll be like running 32bit with 4gig, you'll have 8gig but only use 7 and a bit.

You will need to up the NB/MCH voltage. I had to up it to get my 4x1GB to work properly. The P5K chipset supports 8GB of ram, it'll be the case where you probably get in the region of 7.5GB as an end result :)

Go for it!

well i have literally just ordered 8gb of the same ram. I have a p5k deluxe! I hope it recognises this or im seriously gonna get gutted.

I received my second set of 4GB Corsair today courtesy of Overclockers and free delivery with DHL - nice

The first 4GB set I bought had 1.8V printed on the modules, this set however had 1.9V printed on the modules. CPU-Z however reports the SPD as 1.8V for all sticks at 400MHz

Current o/c on my Q6600 is 3.3GHz (367*9) so my RAM isn't being stressed, so I just left the DRAM voltage at 1.8V in the BIOS and put the extra sticks in.

8192 MB of RAM was recognised by the BIOS so no problems there. I was surprised tbh because the BIOS version I'm running on my P5K Premium is version 0404 which is dated 21.11.07  Maybe I'll update it one day if I'm really bored :D

I ran a full test with Memtest86+ which showed no problems. However when I tried Intel Burn Test in Vista 64 it kept failing. I went into the BIOS and changed the north bridge voltage from 'auto' to 1.4V (hope this is safe.. 1.25V was the lowest I could select.) With that Intel Burn Test passed OK :)

Apologies for being long winded, but I'm pleased with my results and just wanted to let other people with a P5K series board know that it would recognise 4*2 GB sticks ok.

1.4v is safe. If you have a spare fan, you may want to place it where it will blow on the NB cooler just for extra cooling since you raised the voltage and you are running 4 modules.

Huh 7.5GB? How?

I've got all 4 slots filled on my two PCs, one with a P5K Deluxe and another P5E.

I've got 4GB in my P5K, and 8GB in my P5E and they both work great without any need to increase my northbridge voltage.

I get the whole 4 and 8GB on my PCs. :o :p
