Woohoo! Works sent me home with full pay :)

I had 6 (from a team of 9) people tell me this morning that they couldn't make it to work in Leicester. I said fine, it's a days holiday or days un-paid leave what do you want. 5 of them have now turned up.

One argued that it's not his fault it's snowed, i said nor mine or the businesses. I said the same one a lass turned up saying she felt the conditions to bad for her to drive but as i insisted she come in she got a £9 taxi then tried to claim it as expenses. I also refused that.

Well I am back tomorrow night at 11pm & I will walk to work rather than not show up.
Not showing up for work is Weak, You lot should be Ashamed :p

I think i would have paid the £9 taxi. People shouldn't be pushed into uncomfortable scenarios that can be avoided with a little consideration. That's how accidents are caused, which usually cost a lot more than £9.

im with you on the other points though.

I started work at 6pm on Monday and supposed to finish at 10pm, was sent home 2 hours early due to snow and the fact the store was dead.

Happy days :p

Jammy goit :) Lots of people here haven't made it either. My family rang me to say I shouldn't go, but decided to anyway. My works obviously realised the effort some of us made as the office manager has gone and bought pizza for everyone for lunch.

Could be worse :)

The buses are still running fine, and all main roads are clear. I wasn't forcing her to drive. There are many ways to get to the office. Paying for a taxi for one person could have opened the gates to pay for a taxi for everyone.

I had this with her in december, her car was blocked in by another car so she couldn't get it off her drive. She said it's not her fault so shouldn't be out of pocket for it, I said not mine so we shouldn't either. In my opinion your meant to be at work. You should make all resonable efforts to get into work not just slack off at first opertunity.

Yeah, my company did that on Monday. Shame I wasn't there to get any and the Office manager didn't respond to my email asking for it to be delivered to my house since I was wortking form home!!!

They spent just over £400 on Domino's pizza!!!!!

**** you :p

I managed to somehow drive to work this morning and it was not fun at all. A 10 minute joutney took close to 45 minutes due to the roads being so bad. As it's now started snowing again, I have a feeling that leaving early may be an option.

There's no way I could walk it either, it takes 10 minutes by car because it's 50mph and 40 mph almost all the way, except for the my village.

I am doing a artic lorry course this week, this morning the instructor abandoned the whole week as we have had very little practice and he is going to give me a whole new course in early March, free.

So far I've done about 6 hours driving in it all week. It kept breaking down because of the cold.......

EDIT: Perhaps I misread the course info and absent mindedly booked the arctic lorry course.

Heh same here.

Sadly I only live a couple of miles away from work, so a couple of inches of snow isn't a valid enough reason for the day off. Pretty much everyone else on my team hasn't come in though. :o

Driving halfway down one street in St Albans this morning took me 45 minutes. I parked up and walked home...God know what it would have been like all the way to Luton.

I still managed to travell from East midlands to West midlands today with all the snow about, took me a few hours, but atleast I turned up for work.
