Does anyone have any experience of running one of the microfin blocks with dye in the loop? And if so did you run into problems with dye congealing and clogging the fins?

Going to swap out my Apogee GTX for the XSPC edge tomorrow and want to know whether I should buy in some black tubing instead of clear+dye...

It's a great block, was very tempted to get the one you got from MM as a spare :D
Not used die myself but after a good few months it started to catch the algee in my loop very efficently (was using just feser aqua). Anyway I'd say it would be no worse that any of the other top 5 blocks, as long as you don't over do the die (which the previous owner of my Apogee GT did :(

Coloured tubes for the win (better temps/less restriction)

Yeah, sorry about that! Just seemed like an oppurtunity not to miss, what with them not being made any more. Bit worried about cracking the acrylic top though! Plus it's nice and unrestrictive, and my loop's probably quite low flow atm:-

DDC 10W,
pa120.2,
thin 120.2,
GTX CPU block
MCW-60 GPU block

in the loop atm, and I wonder whether that might be half the reason why adding the thin 120.2 didn't do much to the temps. Going to see if swapping the GTX for the Edge will make much difference, and maybe going to air cooling the graphics with an HR-03 instead to see what difference it makes.

If only they made nice indigo tubes! :D Guess I'll have to find some nice glossy black ones - the XSPC black foot of tubing I have isn'y glossy enough for my liking.

lose the second rad, and swap the block - should do the trick. Fans on pull may also help
My 3w pump powers a 5 block loop so your 10w DCC should be fine.

Have you seen the gorgeous feser tubing? They only sell the blue on here and are asking a stupidly high price but it's is available from other places too.

But I went to so much trouble modding my Lian Li PC-7 to fit the second rad! Alternatively I could make two loops, though not sure if I want to fork out for another pump.do fans on pull make much difference? (fans on pa120.2 pulling, and pushing on the other 120x2 rad).

£5.74/metre for the feser stuff! Not wanting to spend that much on hose, plus it only seems to come in 3/8" or 1/2", and I'd rather not have to faff around with jubilee clips whenever I need to swap things around. Looks like it'll have to be the XSPC stuff and a bit of loving brasso. :D

The only problem with 'some' tubing suppliers is when they tubing in 1m lengths.
I bought 3m from 1 supplier, over kill, came as a 1m length and I got loads left.

I bought 3m XSPC blue UV from here and am very happy with it. Just using de-ionised water and PT nuke and no problems, nice blue glow. Just a shame it came as 3x1m lengths. Not so helpful, but a good product.

There are some pics in the watercooled case gallery of it lit up!

do fans on pull make much difference? (fans on pa120.2 pulling, and pushing on the other 120x2 rad).

Fans pulling air through a rad have a very small dead spot (just behind the fan about the same depth of the fan) so a short shroud is recomended.

Fans pushing air into a rad have a large dead stop (five times the size, if 'cathar' research is correct) So without any shrouds, pull is better

linky

I for one didn't know this - but then again I don't use fans :)
Ok I accept that pc rads have sides but not the fan offset.

Ocuk/Feser also say it here

Thanks for the links. I have a shroud (25mm fan minus the fan on the sharkoon silent eagle 2000rpm fan on the pa120.2 on the back in pull, but I can't fit a shroud on the fans at the radiator front. I could try switching the fans at the front to pull air out of the case and have the top 200mm fan blow in, but I imagine it would get dusty inside quite quickly. Airflow's a bit screwy in my case I guess:
