Watercooled TJ07 build log

I've not found them for sale in the UK yet though.

As for the rad, it just goes straight in the bottom with the TJ07, no mods - it'll even take a 120.4 with no mods - it's like an aircraft hangar in there :D. It's held in with sticky-back velcro.

It's busy leak testing now, and I've plugged in all the fans to check the noise. It's soo quiet - with the fans on half speed, it's almost silent. I'm getting a *tiny* bit of whine from the pump, but I think that's because it's just sitting there - I've not fixed it in place yet.

Nice, sounds good. How did you get on with the compression fittings? Not quite sure which way to go myself.

They're a lot neater than barbs once they're on and I like the way their chunkiness looks. One thing I found is that they're hard to do up tight if there's not a lot of room - if you use one hand they tend to screw the fitting further into the block rather than tightening them onto the hose. They do up with a bit of work though.

I couldn't post the company name since it's also a competitor, also they're available from Germany anf cheaper than in the Uk anyway.

Being keeping an eye on this project and it looks very nice indeed ;) but can't help thinking that it looks like this one below...though i must say, the red inside and the black outside like you have done looks great, keep up the good work :D

Looks very nice but it's too shiny for my tastes. :) Mine's a beautiful deep crimson colour (my photos make it a bit too bright - it's darker in real ilife) on the inside and rear, but keeps the original anodised black colour on the outside, giving a brushed, satin finish. I've also had the grilles on the sides and top done in the crimson.

Let me get a photo with door on, one sec.

Bah.. camera's being uncooperative. You get the idea anyway.

AARGH!!! problem.

Plugged everything in and it's not booting. The LED display showing the post status goes through it's routine but sticks at '69' which means 'Turn on L2 cache'.

Have I got a broken chip?

It's a gigabyte EX58-UD5 with an i7 920 CPU.

Oopsie.. RAM was in the wrong slots...

working now :D

haha, that was close, I was about to pull it apart and drain it, but decided as the last minute to do a quick google search.

Good stuff, although you would really need to drain it to take off the CPU Block. Or would you?

Did a bit of playing today.

It seems my second card wasn't powerful enough to handle PhysX on its own - it's faster in the Cryostasis benchmark with PhysX and graphics on the 285, rather than split between them. Not that bothered though, as it was mainly bought as a 3rd monitor output. Something else I can try tomorrow. It averaged 40fps at full detail and 1680x1050. I wasn't that impressed with the particle water though, it looks more like very low-friction slime.

It thoroughly spanks GTA IV - decent amount of detail (not enough texture memory for full detail though) and no slowdown at all. Checking the coretemp logs, it idles at around 33 - 34 degrees and no core went above 41 degrees C for an hour of me playing it, so I've got some decent headroom for seeing how far it'll overclock.

Yeah, because I'd need to take the motherboard off to get at the screws it's held on with.

Surely you can take the block off without unscrewing it from behind the board?

Compression fittings.... so you've been talking to Al a lot then? :D

How would the gtx285 handle crysis at 1920 x 1200 ?

Looking good mate. I'm cutting my mb tray/shelf on Monday so I'll post some pics when it's done. Ordering components 2 weeks today!

RoEy

The GTX285 will run Crysis fine as long as you dont overdose it on AA and max it out :p

Even then it'll do a great job of keeping it playable :D

Nope. Have a look at the mounted block - the screw heads are on the back of the board.

I've spent today building a new shelf/desk for it (raar!! Man use power-tools! :D ) and once I've got it up properly I can try out the three monitors with a few games.

That's a nice block. Has anyone cut the TJ07's mobo tray so block mounts are accessible by just removing the right side panel, or are there things there that need to be kept intact?

Just cut that chassis m8!

I did it, works wonders and makes to super easy to use multiple mounts to find the best one for benchmarking and clocking.
