It can almost be described as slowdowns, which look like choppy performance.

There should be no reason at all, with regards to specs why I the laptop cannot run it.

2.1Ghz T8100
4 gig ram
ati 3450 250mb dedicated

Ive updated drivers, done cleans, all sorts, dunno what else to do.

I just bought the game for myself through steam and it does the same thing, previously I was using a friends store bought copy, which also done the same.

Hoping you guys can help....

Thanks in advance

slinger.

Disable the frame limiter in options :), the monkeys in R* decided it's good limited @ 25fps...

Re-enable it for woozies swimming mission though as underwater swimming is terribly slow when your fps are high (meaning that even with a 70% diving skill you might drown in the underwater tunnels)... Rest of game can be enjoyed at 200 fps :).

That said, your gpu is quite slow, I'm not 100% sure how fast it is but unless it's at least a geforce 6800, you can forget about running the game maxed at more than 30 ish fps... I mean I suspect you have a poor card there as it had 6fps in bioshock and 4 in CoD4 according to legit reviews, much worse than my old 6800GS did... I can run SA at 30 ish fps on my mums lappy though @ 1280x800 and all settings on low, amdx2 cpu 2gb and x1150 gpu...

Disabling the frame limited doesnt help :(

was one of the things I had tried before.

thx for your reply though

EDIT: my mate with his laptop, he plays this game on max, bar AA i think, with his 8400GS 128MB in his HP laptop just fine.

I always found with that game if I use "level 3" AA then it doesn't run too good at times, and thats with various systems/cards.

How does it handle other games?

I can play left 4 dead resonably well, no slowdowns, not on max resolution, but on 1280x800 iirc.

tf2 plays real nice, one of the best on my system, I was surprised.

gmod, hl2, and dods play fine as well, I mainly leave all the settings in steam games on what it reccomends, and they place quite nice.

so yeah :D

I have though been having issues with an external monitor that I connect to this laptop, when I will be playing a video on the extra monitor ( I have it set at a 22" native resolution ) in windows its fine, but now n then it will freeze, cause the system to say the graphics has stopped working, but recovered, carry on flashing it sscreen on and off randomly and throw me a nice bluescreen. I am not sure what to do about this yet, but straight away I think about contact dell support, I still have warranty.

Just thought this is all graphics related maybe, maybe theres a hardware problem with the gfx, I dunno.

Thx for replies.

I always found that while it ran smooth with it off the cutscenes would lose sync, and I'd get terrible texture/terrain pop-in. I left in on in the end :(

Isnt theres an unofficial patch knocking about that raises the 25fps limit to 30 or 40 or something? I never actually tried it myself because I'd already finished the game.

my hd2600pro runs it ok, but not amazing, and that's at 1360x768 (i think)

your card is worse
