will a 3850HD 256(o'c 10%) be enough to power a Sony 40'' KDL-40W4000
i haven't bothered to connect it yet, i want it to play films and some games,
I'm saving for a new card at the moment, cant decide my next card, but that's a different matter,
will it play films? or crappy games such as wow?
also which cable to buy? from gpu into hdmi?

thanks

Alex

Yes that card should be plenty enough for your current needs until you decide to get a more powerful card. It will play HD movies and some games fine.

Your card should have also come with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter so all you need is a HDMI cable to hook it up from your PC to your TV and it is done. You can use a VGA cable too as your TV should have a VGA port, but HDMI is better since you get sound output with it as well. A much easier one cable solution.

hi, I am running an nvidia 7800gtx 256mb thru my 40" samsung lcd, I just used a dvi to hdmi adapter and a standard hdmi lead and use pc audio in on tv from o/b sound of pc. works a treat and runs cod4, cs:s, wow etc, movies look good also, not tried high def yet tho :)

the lcd shows up in display properties, I had to alter the display slightly as was a little off at the sides which i done via the display settings in xp

hope this helps

yes you can plug very easily - I plugged 2x GF9600GT XXX and enabled SLi that plug from DVi-HDMI (Belkin PureAV cable) into Samsung F86 40" LCD and display set at 1920x1080p that prefect picture that will same as your...

Yep just remember that the modern ATi cards support sound through the HDMI cable, whereas Nvidia cards require you to connect an internal cable from your soundcard to the graphics card itself, or using cables from your soundcard's output ports to your TV's audio input ports/or external speakers.

Not too sure about the fps, but low/medium settings and a lower resolution should be fine for that game. You could always experiment to see which works for you. The game tends to work better with Nvidia cards anyways, especially with the addition of PhysX.

you need to use a special ATi branded dvi>hdmi adaptor and a hdmi lead to get video and sound over hdmi, it cant be dont with a standard lead unfortunately.

Make sure the drivers are installed, then go to the Volume Control options in your Control Panel and change the default sound device to the ATi one. You should then be able to hear sound.

Not sure about that. I just use the DVI-to-HDMI adapter that came with my 4830, then a Belkin branded HDMI cable and it outputs sound fine on my PC monitor and HDTV.
