Why do people think Newcastle are a small club?

Rubbish teams?

I think you need to look at what Blackburn and Bolton have achieved in the last few years before you start calling teams rubbish.

I meant in terms of football played. But they've hardly been successful, haven't played Champions League football.

Super Massive Clubs:

Man United - Obviously fans everywhere, all over the world
Real Madrid, Barcalona - Fans everywhere, South America etc
Perhaps AC Milan and Juventus

Big Clubs in the UK:
Man United - As above
Spurs - Fans all over europe especially in Scandanavia, Holland, France etc. Mainly because of having players like Hoddle etc in the past
Liverpool
Chelsea? Only recently started to get a huge fan base

When was the last time Newcastle were in the Champions League ? ( out of interest, not out of being argumentative or anything like that, and who was the manager ? )
Newcastle are a spent force, with a huge following because of geographically where the club is.
It's simple.

They're fans are no better then other clubs fans, I dislike it when people say this. It's insulting to every other football fan.

You might have had a half decent side in the past, but so have many teams, the club I follow has won the FA cup and were once in division one, but I don't keep talking about that, I have the intelligence to see where my club is at present and where it is going.

Newcastle are a shambles, an example of how not to run a football club*, They however are lucky, because there are "worse" footballing teams in the League, who will be taking up those relegation positions.
Newcastle are not really a mid table premiership team, they like most of the teams in and around them, a club lucky to be in the top league, and not in the one bellow it. This is down to equally bad clubs coming up and going down.

The signs of Newcastle getting back on track were there when Alladyce was given the job, and given time he could have sorted this out, Alas like all spent forces in the League, Newcastle fans thought that "Big Sam" should have come in and won everything and played amazing football and made them a footballing force.

Look at the most successful managers in the League, Sir Alex and Wenger.
How long have they had to build a team ? and not have fans calling for managers heads.

Keegan was always going to walk out / leave, It's what he does.

* there are other equally as bad ran clubs in the League, you're not on your own on this one.

Love it how everyone hasn't got a ****ing clue. Perhaps you should go to every game home and away instead of sitting at your computer spouting rubbish.

Allardyce is a clown and would have gotten us relegated.

As opposed to Kinnear getting you relegated.

You're not the only club who are badly run, you're not the only club who has big support, you're not a big club.

I wouldnt go saying what Liverpool or Chelsea should be doing, what they did wrong etc. Sure i watch 15-20 games a season of them on tv, but i dont live in the area, follow their every move, dont know people at the club or connected to the club, dont watch every single game.

My opinion on those clubs would be worthless because i don't know what really goes on a day to day basis.

Why is every1 bringing up the same points?

We know we're not a big club, apart from maybe 1 fan in 20

We know we're not the only club who are run badly

We know we might and probably will get relegated under kinnear...

Whats your point?

At least I can listen to 606 without hearing the complaining Newcastle fans.

Next Liverpool fans ><

Thats one for the sig, if Allardyce keeps Blackburn up and JFK gets Newcastle relegated :D

I dont even think Allardyce has managed a team that has been relegated.

I'm glad Newcastle sacked Allardyce to be fair, we needed someone to rescue us after the calamity that was Paul Ince and he's looking like the man to do it.

Newcastle's main problem is that the majority of their fans feel that success should come overnight, but even when Chelsea bought the title (and Blackburn to a lesser extent) it happened after 2+ seasons. They expected Mike Ashley to come in, flash the cash and buy them European football and that was not going to happen.

My mum's a Newcastle fan and so i've had to put up with the moaning at Ashley and the moaning at Keegan over the past few seasons however one thing she has always felt is that you should not have sacked Big Sam.

Edit: As for the OP, given that Blackburn took the Premiership and Carling cup, and have also had more higher placed league finishes that you (despite our relegation) since the Prem began, I find it had to believe we are so far down on your list. Judging by what you say we should be atleast 4th, with Newcastle not even on there. Hell, we had Shearer too and he won us a title!

I could go on for hours about how we're always last on Match of the Day, or how we will always be remembered as a dirty team for fighting out way out of relegation but at the end of the day I get on with it. Why? Because I accept that Blackburn are no longer the club they used to be and quite honestly, Newcastle fans need to do this too.

I also don't see why Sparky is a prat?

Yea, probably best if you keep listening to your radio, because you haven't got a clue about Newcastle United.

I've pointed out that I know something about Newcastle, you seem bitter that your club isn't doing very well, is poorly ran and has being receiving a fair amount of bad press in the media.

As a football fan, I like to think I know a fair bit on most of the premier league clubs, as I watch them while I'm not attending my team, of which I'm a season ticket holder.

Sparky isn't a prat.
He's a good manager, as he proved while at Blackburn.
That was an average team, and he made them perform very well.
Towards the end of this time, he started to bring through some talented players.

Allardyce is a good manager, given time.
Everything takes time.

big crowds dont makle a big club

lors of people watch Big Brother..it doesnt make it any good though

Exactly, with the exception of Ince of course :p.

While I liked Ince, and the way he approached management. ( starting at the bottom and working his way up, take note Tony Adams, Roy Keane )
I think he wasn't given enough time coupled with the job was probably a step to big for him.

Allardyce was the best man for the job from the off, its a shame he couldn't have gotten a club with more "spending" power and one that could be more of a marketing object.

Such as Newcastle, who's fans forced the owners hand in my opinion.
They're loss, your gain.

No offense, Blackburn are a good club, and fairly well ran compared to a lot of League clubs.
