I got myself GT5:P today, picked it up for £10 (along with Uncharted for the same price). Anyway, the game itself installs, and plays, just fine yet when it goes to update to the latest version the patching fails.

It gets to around a third of the way along the progress bar and then just throws a "There was an error with the download" box and stops. It's not the connection as I'm still logged into PSN and can access the net and whatever.

This means I can't really get into the game as I don't want to go and start winning money and only to lose my savegame when the thing updates.

Any ideas?

Just keep trying - it auto resumes from the last place, even though it doesn't make that clear. You'll get there in the end. :)

That game still has patch download problems?! I thought it was like that around release because the servers were getting hammered :p

It doesn't look like it auto-resumes. It keeps starting from right at the start again and taking an absolute age to just get a tiny bit done.

I downloaded the update for it yesterday evening while waiting for KillZone 2 to come onto PSN it did it without any problems at all.

OK, so I've had this POS for 12 hours now and still I can't update the damn thing. The progress bar doesn't even get anywhere near where it originally got to.

Still keeps saying "Failure. There was an error during download" or some other such guff. Is this supposed to be a Sony flagship game or what? Yet no other game has a single problem.

All I want to do is play the bloody game.

Yeah, thanks for that info. It was really useful in sorting my problem out.

I recently installed gt5p again needed a race. the update took forever to complete atleast 5 hours of restarting, failing, restarting but got there in the end after a while just keep at it and dont let it win lol.

I get exactly the same problem when trying to update. I really thought they would have sorted this by now???

I've just reinstalled it on mine, will have a go at updating it later and see if I have the same trouble.
