So, I live down a long gravel drive shared with 2 other houses.

This morning I tried to move my car at 7:00 AM, only to find the ice means I am stuck in the middle of the drive, obstructing the other two houses' access.

I can't find any number to call for Leeds Council (Well I can but it is an emergency number)

So how can I get my car out of the ice? What's teh best way to melt it/ provide traction?

Thanks

Worth a try, surely? You just need enough to start melting the ice, then it sort of carries on by itself.

If you live on a gravel drive surely a shovel to break up the ice and move the gravel would be the best idea?

Ok it's not really gravel.. it probably was many years ago but it's kind of gravel-in- the- middle- mud- where- the tyre- tracks- are now.

Gonna boil the kettle and see if I can unstick my car with a few litres of the stuff.

Phew 4 kettles of boiling water and 2 large cardboard boxes torn up allowed me to at least get the ~5 m I needed to get into my parking space again.

Sod trying to actually go anywhere today!

Use your car mats, Dig just behind the two drive wheels & place the car mats down, Let air out of your tyres, Creep out, Once moving don't stop, JD.
