Killzone 2 Demo - First impressions

That sounds terrible, every six axis implementation I've used has been crap. It's always been better to use the sticks in my experience. But, we shall see I guess.

I guess people who've played the beta would be able to shed some light?

I think the zooming in and out with the sixaxis could actually work pretty well. Aslong as they make it smooth. Like using the wheel on a mouse to zoom in and out.

Sixaxis has worked well when used well ie Uncharted, Ratchet and Folklore, anyway Sixaxis is used while sniping the steadier you hold the controller the steadier the aim. It also allows you to tweek your aim by a slight adjustment of the controller. Its also used in a few things like turning valves, planting bombs etc. I was wondering those who are incapable of using a DS3 for a FPS and want to use the 360/PS3 converter, if its possible to change controller mid game, ie hold down PS button and re-assign the controllers for sixaxis use.

Woke up this morning and all I know is that the first thing I wanted to do was crank up the KZ2 demo! Not had that sort of childish hit from a game demo since the PS1 days and stuff like the original Ridge Racer preview.

I've turned the cross hair off, set the x/y up by two notches, and am totally happy with it (am still sticking by standard 1 too).

Btw, how does this game handle mic comms online? I heard there is proximity voice halo style!!! Can a beta player give me the low down? Can't wait.

Ive heard that you can squad up and you can all talk to each other in the squad at all times, everyone else is proximity based. Maybe options to change stuff about, but i like the idea of squad based chat as you wont have to put up with some people playing Micheal Jackson over the mic and shouting BOOM HEADSHOT every now and then :D

What does it use six axis for?

i saw on a video that you use six axis when you plant bombs, you done have to tilt in either direction to activate it :D

six axis is also used on the loading screen hehe. i really hopeing it has nothing to do with sniping though...

well finally got to play it... the download corrupted last time (didnt post coz i wasnt really in a rational frame of mind ) turns out that my downloads are crap before midnight and after midnight its like the white tornado...ie superfast so downloaded it again and it worked.

Will have to play the demo again but i am suitably impressed. Have been flirting with Alternate 2 control scheme but as has been stated its a tad tricky zooming in and shooting when crouched behind cover. Im liking the gameplay though feels tighter than COD4

And... i need to up my sensitivity coz way i have it is great for longish headshots but close in combat very tricky.

Still thinking on whether the graphics are better than Gears 2. Without a shadow of a doubt the environmental effects (smoke, wind, explosions etc) is the best ive seen in a console game.

Nice. What I'm wondering is whether the proximity voice comes through the tv speakers or through the headset. Hopefully there is an option to set this as you want it. Either way is workable though.

Finally played the Killzone 2 demo. Thoughts ? Hmmm, Going to have to play it a few times to decide what I reckon.

Ok, sorry if it has been mentioned before in the thread but - is it just me or does it feel like there is "lag" when turning. When tapping the stick to strafe or move forward and back it is instant, but with the other stick to turn, tapping it shows a very slight delay.

It isn't my controller as I just tried RE5 and it worked fine, but the game feels like it has input lag on the "aim" stick. It actually is *really* putting me off the game.

I've cancelled my pre-order based on the demo. Mindless run and gun shooting gallery of the most generic kind. The only good part is the hit animations. Otherwise, it's got that horrible CoD ai bots filling a big map feel. The sluggish controls (not helped by the PS3's fps unfriendly and pretty rubbish analogue sticks) were the nail in the coffin.

Bah humbug!

Read a few pages of this thread. This has been talked about to death.
