Snowboarding or Skiing ?

for me snowboarding you just push snow about and it can be a little boring... and you know if you fall its really going to hurt. I learnt to snowboard by just renting a board and boots and basically throwing myself down red runs for a day... which worked and im now a confident snowboarder. But I would prefer to ski... way more fun you can go a lot faster and is just all round better (imo)

That's how I learnt to board too.

Try both and make your own mind up :)

OR learn both and then switch each time you go - simple!

Yeah good plan, i think immediate term ill learn to ski, its something i can learn with my little boy too which will be nice.

Snowboarding for definite!

You can just do a lot more fun things trickwise. Skiers can do the park but on the flats not a lot you can do apart from ride the piste. I love being able to tear up a piste whilst dropping in 180 ollies, butters, manuals and nose rolls.

Also don't believe the pretense that snowboarding is slow, on my 164 board especially when it has been waxed I easily out run 90% piste users.

Rubbish! You obviously haven't seen many good skiers if you think we can't do stuff on the flat! With the right equipment you can ollie, do standing 180s/360s etc.

This makes you sound like a complete butter too. I can hit any kicker, lip, ridge you can, can ride backwards as well as I can ride forwards (and thus do the tricks required to change face on a whim), and we can certainly do more in a park, due to being able to move all four limbs independantly.

Snowboarding IS slow, you wouldn't keep up with me, that's for sure.

Skiing, it's harder to learn, but much better when you reach the peak of what you can do on each, unless you're into the whole snow-park style scene.

I've done both, and I much prefer skiing, although ironically my knees are so buggered now I could only board :(

I can ski but have recently been learning snowboarding.

If you can pick snowboarding up pretty quickly then that's great, although it's tougher on the flat and on your bum to start with. Although I get more of an adrenaline rush from snowboarding - but maybe because it's new to me and it's pretty exciting when you know you're going to crash/flip/die and have to brace yourself for impact :D
Snowboarding might be better tricks wise (?), it looks cooler imo, but it depends if you want to do that or if you're just starting out - it might not be such a good idea.

So, yeah... Didn't really help you there :p They're both good fun, although atm I'm having fun learning to snowboard - a new challenge is the attraction for me I think!

I would hardly call it slow, I believe the record is around 126mph which maybe slower than the fastest skier but is still damn fast! You can get plenty of speed if you want to.

126mph sounds a little scary to me, it screams broken legs and mangled arms :p:D

Pick whichever you prefer best...

But please, can we keep Blades out of this thread. They look ridiculous and most people will laugh at you.
