Easy's Home Cinema Film Choice opening night thread

If your into animated movies Wall-e, Ratatouille & Kung Fu Panda are a must.

My choices would be - Pans Labyrinth & Dark Knight

Have you decided yet? ?I get my px80 delivered tomorrow and want a blu-ray to watch this friday night but cant decide.

Im tempted by 2001:space odessey or zulu, but i dont feel these will look as good as something as modern

Easy,

Just put the below kit together and have been testing blu rays all week. At first i thought Iron Man or Transformers etc but then i tried King Kong.

Seriously there is no better movie to really stretch the legs of an AV setup. Granted it is really long and the story is well, drawn out but my god the PQ and Sound are amazing. For example, in the scene where they are trapped fighting off those huge bugs you can literally hear all the bugs around you - lol my GF had to shut her eyes.

Another vote for Iron Man or the Dark Knight.

I wouldn't bother with Star Wars until it's out on BluRay. The Wookie Groomer versions are great, but Star Wars will be much better once out on BluRay.

Been doing some testing...

Is it normal getting black bars at the top and bottom of the film when playing Bluray on PS3?

Apologies if this is a noob question but all my DVD's on my HTPC don't look like this.

Go buy a new 21:9 ratio TV :)

Speed Racer.

Watched it on a mates 108" 1080P screen a few months ago. Crap film but the trippy colours and HD quality are jaw dropping..

Very normal dude, the majority of films are like that. Oxy wasn't joking, Philips have just released a 56" 21:9 TV as that aspect is so common for films. I'd recommend Apocalypto if you want a great quality 16:9 blu ray.
Oh, and great choice with transformers
