A friend of mine has a Student VISA from Tanzania to study in the UK, and she is currently abroad in India visiting her father in hospital.

She only has 6 months left on her Student VISA, and may need to extend her stay in India because the father is in critical condition.

Will she be allowed to enter normally in the next few months? I read online here:
http://www.kcl.ac.uk/about/structure/admin/acareg/studentservices/intstudents/travelling.html

That students often have problems returning back to the UK when they have such a short time left on their VISA.

On a separate note, can the Student VISA extended from anywhere, or does it have to be from the UK or Tanzania (where it was originally obtained)?

Why cant she study in her own country instead of emitting out tonnes of carbon dioxide on a plane to study here?! The UK off all places?!!

Tell her to go back to her own country.

How about both of you try and actually help by answering my questions. If you have nothing useful to post, then why even bother posting?

Actully it was an intellgient reply, "why" cant she study where she comes from? I do..

So you are answering my original questions with another question which has no relevance to me whatsoever? Do you really think I care if you do or don't? The answer to your question is none of your business...

(your answer was so intelligent that it wasn't even an answer to my question and had spelling mistakes too... great way to show off your intelligence :p)

She is a drain on our countries economy. She get her education here then buggers back off to her country when she gets a job. One thing I find absurd is that people on student VISA's are actually allowed to work in this country.

How is she a drain on our economy?

Assuming she's paying for her education and is also paying for accommodation and food.

I can't believe the cheek of her parents wanting to get a high quality education for their child regardless of the financial cost to themselves! :p

Edit - OP, it might be best if she contacts either the home office (i think they do the student visas) to ask what to do. A close friend had a lot of trouble sorting his student visa out and it took a LONG time and several letters. Calling them is the best option, though I don't understand why she wouldn't be allowed back in with 6 months remaining.

she is a drain on our economy, because she will have taken a place ont eh course that could have ptentially been left open for a uk student, that will stay in this country and pay taxes.

If you want to go study in the US, would you then be stealing a place from an american? There are enough UNIs and places on courses for you to get the qualifications you want. In my experience, most the foreign students in medicine are bright and work harder than the UK students. Nearly all also plan to stay in the UK to work the rest of their lives (some have government sponsorship and have no choice but to go back)

(is this meant to be a joke BTW?)
