hey guys quick one for you!

just put my new rig together all is fine except the bios on my m3a79-t is insanely laggy! we are talking upwards of 5 seconds at times before key strokes are recognized. is this normal can anyone help? its making bios tweaking insanely annoying!

tms :(

I have this board, second one so far - first was completely dead and now this one is playing up.

Have had quite a few booting problems and the only way i can guarantee it to boot up first time is to shut it down completely then start it ... warm restarts dont seem to work very well, bios gets stuck detecting hard drives.

Yes it takes quite a while to get to the bios - deactivate the green screen to see what it is doing - Not by pressing TAB though, that just gives me a blank screen

Im also having a lot of problems with the usb ports all of a sudden, they just stop working for no reason or aren't functioning as usb2. If i remove a device and plug it back in, it doesn't work again until i reboot the system, bloody annoying  thank **** i use a ps/2 keyboard!

Sounds like an odd problem to me, have either/both of you tried a full CMOS reset? Might also be wroth flashing it to the latest bios if you haven't already, but if the board seems ...dodgy I'd be a little cautious about doing that.

So far I have only read good things about the Asus, indeed it was a choice for me between that board and the DFI I went for. No regrets though so far, it is my 3rd DFI Lanparty board now though, and both the others were absolutely awsome, this one is yet to prove it's self, but it is yet to do anything to annoy me or lead me to believe it wont be a damn fine board. Good luck.

hi guys sorted this last night i had an old bios flashed it to 602 i think it was and the bios lag went away.

something i have never seen before btw is when the bios has been reset upon reboot it switches off totally for a few seconds no fans etc then restarts.

Oh I have had that before on one of the boards I have had, I just can't remember which one it was. I think it was a Gigabyte though.

I thought id upgraded my bios, but after spending the last hour trying to do so .... i remember now why i havent yet :(

Ez Flash Bios wont give me access any drive to select the bios file! Ive tried flash drives (as it says in the instructions), usb drives, cds and finally floppies - The floppy controller is in the most ridiculous place, i had to remove my fx card and 2 sound cards just to get the cable in - then i had to remove my floppy drive from the case because the cable does reach :/

So i made a floppy system disk, but on bootup it says its invalid, god i miss dos :(

Theres a new bios release by the way - 0703, released the 6th Feb ..... maybe some day i'll be able to install it!?

Edit: UPDATE TO 0703 AT OWN RISK! ;) Couldn't boot using it .... actually couldn't boot after finally getting 0602 to install - had to disconnect all hard drives to get into bios as it kept getting stuck at the S.M.A.R.T. check, which i can't seem to disable - is it possible to disable it?

Anyway, now with 0603 installed, computer feels much more stable, boots (warm/cold) very fast and Windows 7 absolutely flies now :D

TheMorningStar - What cpu cooler do you use? I was thinking about getting the True Black, but apparently it doesn't fit on this mobo :/
