Mooching... in your house
right, so we've got 2 kittens - awesome little things (they are only technically kittens i guess, they are 10 months old so they look like proper little cats really)

so anyway the problem: at night they stay in the kitchen, they have baskets and all their food and all that, and also a catflap. however recently, a big ginger cat (well, the fact that it'd ginger isn't relevant) is driving them out at night, so when we come down in a morning, this bloody cat is in there and our kittens aren't :(

so its eating their food and sleeping in their room while they're out in the freezing cold :(

does anyone have any experience with this that could help us out?

lock the catflap...

If it doesn't lock, tape it up for the night.

Isn't that the most blatant solution in the world?

I suppose you've got two solutions..

a) If they're litter trained, lock the Cat flap at night and put a litter tray down (obviously away from their food)

b) Alternatively you could get once of those magnetic cat flaps, I don't know if there's some new technology about or not, which will only allow your two cats to use the cat flap.

Yep, I've had exactly the same problem in the past with my cat. The solution is simple - get rid of the cat flap (block it up) and invest in litter trays for your kittens. The can use the trays during the night if they need to and can go outside to do it during the day.:)

You can get catflaps which only open to kittens with electronic tags on them, or at least I read about them on here...

Get them a cat flap that only lets them in, either one that uses a magnet on their collar as the key or the one that I use for my cats, a cat flap that detects the cat’s microchip and uses that as the key.

hmmmmm... we were past the litter tray stage and good riddance i couldn't stand cleaning it out - liking the idea of the magnetic one that only they can get through... i'll look into that

(would have to get them used to wearing collars first though, they always hated them)

Whoooaaahhh there thats what we need where do i get that from?

(hope you're not kidding, they're both chipped and ready to go so that'd be great!)

If you got your cats microchipped that would remove the need for a collar.

Edit: we got ours from Here

... just the name of this magical door guys, or a link?

(bet its like 200 quid :p)

Step 1: Make catflap so it will only let the ginger cat in and not out
Step 2: Move kittens to another room for one night
Step 3: Wait for ginger cat
Step 4: When ginger cat comes in, either a) Soak it in water or b) Beat it with a rolled up newspaper
Step 5: No more ginger cat :)

He wont want to be coming back in a hurry!

if you leave a mirror on the outside of the cat flap then when the big ginger cat comes along it will see that it is ginger and the shame will kill it :D

And awwwwwwww at their picture, the white one is quite possibly the coolest cat ive seen :) great camoflauge at this time of year
