I've got my first job, still not getting Taxed yet, but i will be in march.

Walking out With £1000 a month, Tax will be around £200+ and im paying £200 Dig money.

Anyone think this is too much? What does everyone else pay, so i can get a general idea.

Digs = House/Room Rent

Depends on where it is/what it is like.

I paid 600/month for a 1 Bed in Aberdeen, thats with out bills, council tax etc.

£200 is quite cheap for digs, especially on £1000 a month salary.

Yeah still with mum & dad.

Only reason i think its a lot as all i really use is the Electricity, along with food.

think of all the money they've spent on you over the years. you'll still have 600 quid in your pocket if that £1k is post tax.

sounds reasonable to me, you'll be using gas, water, electricity and food. food alone would set you back £80-100 a month

Sounds exactly like me, starting a new job on Monday, should be getting £1k/m after tax, and mum wants me to pay her £200 every month to help her with bills etc.

Yeah your probably easily eating £100 worth of food, more likely slightly more in 1 month so the rest towards bills. Apart from electricity, there's council tax, broadband, gas for heating. All of which your responsible for.

End of the day... Don't like it? Move out and see if you can get somewhere where you get everything you get there for £200.

I doubt you'd find anywhere else in Edinburgh for £200 inc. bills mate. And be honest, what on earth would you spend the other £600/mo on anyway, you're still living with your parents!

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

move out and you're looking at ~£1k for a 1 bed flat when you include all bills, council tax, food etc etc
£200 may seem expensive if you've never had to pay anything before, but if thats all inclusive it sounds fair to me
(you would probably eat £200 of food in 1 month, i know we do!!)

Yeah id love to have it that good mate, i get roughly the same wages as you and id say a month after all bills i have around £200 spare. So yeah as already said sounds more than ok to me.

Blimey - when I was on 900 a month I was paying 250 to my mum and dad.

You might think you are only using the leccy and eating the food but no doubt you are used to the warmth of central heating, your washing done (maybe), no bills to pay and a nice roof over your head.

Like others have said, I am paying a third of my wages towards the mortgage and another wedge to bills and food.
