**EMPIRE TOTAL WAR**

Since it uses steam works i'm not so bothered about the Steam price being so high. I'll be able to get the same functionality as if I bought it from steam for £10 less and I get all the fancy extras that come with the special edition that the DD copy won't have. Map etc.

Any word on if they've improved other countries AI in diplomacy?

The thing that annoys me most in Med2 is when they accept peace then on the next turn attack me still because that's what their army was ordered to do the turn before.

IMO they really need to flesh out the diplomacy side both in options and AI before adding anything new to the game. I just hope they've done this with ETW.

They have done loads to the diplomacy, go check out a preview on the game they will mention it in there:)

**Anyone interested about the mp read this**
Copy and pasted off IGN

IGN: Can you give more details on how the multiplayer campaign might work? For instance, can you save your games in the middle of a campaign and return to it later? It seems like you're limiting the action to just two players, at least in the beta. What player limits are you looking for in the final release?

Kieran Brigden: The multiplayer campaign game will be limited to 1v1, certainly for its first iteration; this is because we want to include playing battles from the campaign. In terms of how it will work, yes, you will be able to save your games and return to them. You could have several 1v1 games on the go so that you can have a series of opponents, enabling you to dip in and out of games against different opponents over a period of days, weeks and months. This links in deftly with the Steam buddy system: letting you see who's online and pickup with them.

The whole article is here, its a really good read and i so want this game :)

Yup the MP coop sounds good, hopefully we will get full on coop campaign in an expansion or something.

Also I believe you can buy a retail copy and activate it on steam, infact its required. As I use steam for almost all my gaming for me this is a good thing.

Whilst the HMS Victory is tempting, I'm not sure I want to pay £15 for the elite units.

What's the score with this elite unit business? Are they actually particular to the store you buy the game from, or do they become available at some point anyway (either through patches or the internet...)?
What existing games do this?

Just like an addon pack really.

Not gonna be paying an extra £10-15 for the CE, not worth it imo. The game itself, I can't wait for though. I just hope the AI isn't too broken this time around, lol.

CA games tend to take months to mature properly (via community mods).

This looks great, There was a naval program on the history channel a few weeks ago and it showed the tactics used in naval combat, wish I could remember some of them.

I'm still a bit concerned about how fun combat will be. I mean you've got naval combat which is very very rarely done in an entertaining way in games (especially when you are relying on wind for movement) and then land combat is much more gunpowder based than before, so you have two lines just shooting the **** outta eachother with a few calvary thrown in for fun.
