Student Initiations

Agric colleges seem to hold the crown for initiation rituals and drinking games. I went to Seale-Hayne Agricultural college and pretty much saw it all. Newton Abbott never really appreciated our Rugby Club pub crawls either, even if we did put a fair amount in their tills.

College was helluva fun but some of the stuff was way over the top and degrading with only the haze of alcohol to help one forget. Can't say I approve these days but to say people don't know what they were letting themselves in for is just not true. Our Agitators initiations were well know throughout other colleges let alone within our own.

They are adults, let them do what they want as long as it isn't:

a. illegal
b. ott distasteful - such as Nazi, etc
c. dangerous/violent
d. flagrantly abusing the University/institution's policies or reputation

I went to Harper Adams University College (its an agricultural one).

I had to drink p*** and vomit (unknowingly) and swim through cow **** and p***, jump in big containers of it, had vegetables and god knows what else thrown at me, pig swill and maggots thrown all over me.... Can't remember much else.

Either way, sounds tame :p Won't be doing that again mind you.... Ever.

you say you had to, I say you chose to.

you say you had to, I say you chose to.

Kinda agree. Initiations play on a feeling of potentially being accepted into a "clique" IF you comply with the entry requirements. It's coercion of a semi willing party. Hence why I said it should be their decision as adults.

Well the rugby club did the "run of death" at my university. Each fresher was naked with a lit toilet roll in their bum checks and had to crawl through a tunnel made from chairs while the rugby team poor various unspeakable liquids over them.

My Rugby initiation was a great laugh.

Running round Bristol with a map of the seniors houses where we had to complete challenges all against the clock before finishing at the pub that sponsored us.

Made some really good freinds that day as it was a team game, taking one for the team certainly gained a new meaning for me...ha

Those lot seem to have been pushed into something ridiculous though, since when do people not stand up for themselves and say "Hang on, your taking the pee"?
