I thought the original issue with oveclocking the 260s was heat? You could send them sky high as long as you kept them cool enough i seem to recall, volt mods seemed ineffective at best. Will be interesting to see how this develops :)

Not really , my 216 sp gets upto a max of 60c without the voltage mod and is unstable beyond 710/1200 ( errors and crash's ). With the voltage mod the temps rise to about 64-68 but i'm at 721/1200 no errors or crashs.

how do i tell what model card i have to see if it is in the supported list?

No offence, but if you're asking that Q you probably shouldn't be messing with GPU voltages just yet.

Do some swatting-up first then let rip.

The program you want is GPU-Z.

this hasn't helped my god awful over clock on my BFG 280oc (allways get the crap card , cpu's i do ok on. upto 1.2 and 1.25 , and instead of the card hard locking with a black screen at 625mhz core it runs but with loads of rendering errors :( , on the other hand keeping at at 615mhz stock ive reduced the the voltage to 1.088 and its rock stable in crysis and folding @ home (much lower temps and power usage as well).

Somthing else must be holding back my Overclock , my Corsair 620 maybe ?

Into the pink benchmark locked up for me @690 core originally. with the voltage increased from 1038 to 1188 I managed core (shader linked) at 760 & memory @ 1280. Scored me 30000 exactly. Temps hit mid to high 70's. Don't think I'd try this for gaming sessions but ok for benchmark fun...
