Twitter

Do people who don't get Twitter not get RSS feeds too? It's kinda the same thing, except Twitter is done by a person rather than company update. I see it as having a different use than Facebook status updates.

I read TechCrunch, Mashable and quite a few others with really interesting blogs - that I'd never otherwise notice or read. I'm on it here.
 
I use it to see the developments in a few research fields relating to uni. It's very useful.

People seem to think that it;s just about what you're doing - just like the status bar on Facebook. However, it's not quite meant for that. It's for those odd thoughts that might be interesting or for those interesting finds on the net or advances at work.

Just something I'm curious about and no offence intended, but why do you randomly capitalize some of your words?
 
People have got to stop jumping on this bandwaggon just because some celebs are using it. I've had a twitter account a while now, I don't use it often to update my status but I follow a few people and find out interesting things with it. It's not really meant for people to go OMG IM HAVING A POO, it's for posting interesting stuff like MY HOUSE JUST BLEW UP AND A CAMEL WALKED PAST HOW WEIRD! :D

I was reading a good artical about this, this morning. I'll update my post with it when I get home.

I don’t use it, it's just another trendy commmunications channel for people to put out trivial and boring dross.
 
It's really surprising how many people one here (who should be tech savvy and embrace new tech) can't seem to understand what a lot of these Web 2.0 technologies are about. It's a real shame, because they are a lot more then a short term trend.
 
It was introduced by my course director on the first day of college...She persuaded us to use it as a communication tool but apparently ending no one was interested in it...

I'm avoiding it, as my brother, who is exponentially more geeky than I, is a massive fan of twittering, and it just doesn't appeal to me in any way, shape, or form.
 
I hate deciding usernames for these kinds of sites. My digg username is Harrison88 so I was tempted to use that but all the forums I'm signed up to I am known as Kemik.

Just found it interesting for some reason that they were playing L4D together last night and inviting their followers to join. :)

Sounds like a cult.

You don't really expect such people to be such avid gamers. At least I now know where Linehan got his inspiration for The IT Crowd.... he IS Roy. :D
