ASUS P6T Deluxe

I have a question for owners of this board - What is the Creative soundcard deal with this? Is it a daughter board or is it onboard? If its onboard is it any cop or should I still be looking to add an XFi to the party?

cool. I posted in a different thread and they have convinced me to move from 32 bit to 64 bit vista, so i thought i would get some

and put that in. but I'm so out the loop with technology I wasn't sure if it would all go in.

I've been worrying I'm not making the most of my system.

There's nothing wrong with that RAM at all, but IMO you should go for 6 gigs if you can afford it. See this thread for a debate and eventual conclusion on which is better.

If you do go for 6 gigs you will need a 64bit OS though, as 32bit OS's can only address 3 gigs of RAM. If you stay with 3 gigs then you shouldn't have a problem staying with a 32bit OS.

yeah I read that on these forums so thats what I plan to do. Thats the good thing about these forums if I hadn't known I would have thrown money at it. Now I will have to throw it at speakers instead.

I am getting a problem with my board - it wont save the CMOS bios Settings. Not sure what the issue is - Support have told me to leave the machine on and hopefully it will get a charge!

Checked Battery, Reset Jumper so I am hoping when I get home tonight its OK!

How is the onboard sound with this board? Its a toss up whether to go for the P6T non deluxe version (as dont need all the features of deluxe) and spend the £30 saved on a X-Fi soundcard or stick with the deluxe onboard. Humm...

I have a p6t deluxe and I would recommend getting a soundcard, but then it depends on what speakers you have. If the speakers are going to be like £5 ones then I'd say buying a soundcard is a waste of money. Also if you only listen to music thats of a low quality like on youtube then you might not see it as a good investment. But if you have rip'd cd's or decent mp3's etc and play games I'd definatly recommend one.

As for the on board sound, it is okay and much better than the old on board sound you used to get but I'm not convinced its better than my old cheap motherboard this could be because of a lot more noise in a more powerful board, or just because I was expecting too great.
