FEAR 2: Project Origin already cracked!

This will solve everything:

Games developers don't seem to understand that they are in competition with piracy, and therefore it is up to them to create a product that treats consumers with the respect they deserve - not bamboozling them with pointless DRM, ridiculous release dates or stupid bloatware.

And where are the developers "bill of rights"? Because they need it more then we do.

Problem is if they release demos for EVERY game developed, you'll see a trend of them making the age of conan mistake.

As is though, maybe 10-20% of games out on the PC get demos. And if a game doesn't get a demo, it's more likely to be downloaded on release to see how good it is, especially now that optimising games for the pc seems to be on the back of every game devs mind. Maybe not 100% of games need demos, but certainly far far more than the current amount.

Have people seen how BIG games are to download these days?! I mean sure it's usually relative to the increase in your internet connection (ish) but some are freakin massive!! You'de probabaly pay for the game in leccy leaving your pc on to download the damn thing!

I say keep putting new and inventive DRM on games. If you think about it, what would all the crackers do with their time if there was no DRM to crack. They may start cracking other stuff like cashpoints, traffic lights, and candy machines .

But seriously DRM does suck hugely for the buying public, my thoughts are that one day this whole cloud computing thing will take over or another form of this tech and the games will be rendered and run else where on servers. Only thing holding it back at the moment is internet speeds to transfer the images at 60fps consistantly. One huge advantage would be that PC requirements wouldn't be need and the gpu market would go down the toilet.

This will introduce a new problem in respects to what happens if the servers go down or the company goes bust but the same could be said today about steam.

this is why i often try before i buy :p no way i would spend money on something that isnt going to run due to bad optimisation

having said that tho i do always buy the games that work well and uninstall the ones that dont :) if anything piracy has made me buy some games that i wouldnt have done otherwise because of no demo version being available

i still always crack my retail games if i can so i dont have to mess around with the dvd

if 99% of developers brought demos out no one would even bother wasting there bandwidth on a torrent never mind money on the game

todays games are nothing like the old platform games sega/3do/ps1

except fear 2 which will be amazing!!!!!!!! :D

Interesting concept, but the only problem is, crackers would move from cracking .exe's to creating capture programs to intercept the data allowing you to compile the game and run it from your machine.

I can't find no scene release for this.. Therefore it must be a p2p release or my internet skills are failing me.

Well as your name says :p

I would say in before the lock but mods seem to have missed this.

As far as I'm aware were not breaking any of the forum rules.

Were discussing piracy and anti piracy measures, not advertising locations on were to get illegal games.

The last person I saw post the Jesus picture earned themselves a suspension so I think Schnippzle was right to resist the charms of "The J Man".

You obviously don't have the same access as i do.

Since IF i wanted to, i could download the entire game and play it now.

Trust me, there is a working crack.

heh ok, clearly a big man in the underground world by the sounds of things! I'll bow out before you set your parrot onto me or kick me with your wooden leg.

I hate the fact that the only people who get screwed by this are the developers and the people like myself who pay the full price for these games. DRM doesn't stop piracy at all (look at Spore, most downloaded game ever, and long before this game we never had DRM) yet developers still insist on implementing it, screwing the paying customer over. It's disgusting.

dont buy the games with drm on them....let the developers learn the hard way.
