Hey guys, does anyone know of somewhere in Birmingham that i can go to play online games, gonna be stuck there for 2 months or so with work and the wireless in the hotel is terrible. Just something along the lines of CGZ in newcastle.

Cheers :)

Yeah it was the Omega Sektor but it closed in about October last year. It was huge, probably one of the factors contributing to its downfall. I walk past it every day on the way to Uni and all of the computers still seem to be there and switched on, doesn't look like they sold off their assets or cut the power supply. Quite strange, the fridge in the Internet Cafe part is also still partially stocked but the place has never reopened.

I went to Omega Sektor once, £5 for three hours and it was good fun but now it has shut :(.

You can always come into my office and watch me on facebook.

Yeah i found that place when i was doing some searching but it does seems to have closed down :( there must be a smaller venue somewhere that someone with local knowledge knows about.

BTOpenzone has pretty good speed if you can get a signal, was getting about 2Mb down on it and there didn't seem to be anything blocking ports. It has quite good coverage around the city center but you have to pay for it.

To play games?

Don't know if this is any help but I took this picture from the window of Omega Sektor earlier:

This looks like the site: http://www.globalgaming.co.uk/

Hope it's of some help.

There was one round the corner from Scruffy Murphy's/Academy, but it was a bit of a dive. just round the corner, up[ the hill slightly, turn in to go to the car park, right oposite the entrance.

Edit, I think that's global gaming.

Yeah that's the one on the map above, opposite the law courts.

ok thanks a lot guys, i'll take a look, anythings better than doing nothing for 2 months,

You're in luck!

Global gaming (£6 for 5 hours) is an awesome place, and I regularly play SFIV there (30-40 players every other Sunday meet for street fighter sessions).

I'm going to go there soon actually (stuck on a 3G dongle for the net at the moment) to play some online games. Can meet there if you want?

I moved here a month ago and start work on Monday so would have gone mental without a place to meet people and play some games in the meantime :p

I won £750 in May 2008 there :D

It was a mess tbh, ran by idiots.

I've not used the PC's there, I bring my laptop and arcade sticks to play my games online (online/same screen Street Fighter on the 360) so can't comment on the hardware there, but it' so cheap (actually £6 for 7 hours, or £3 each if sharing a console for SFIV etc) that it's great value for money compared to most places.

:O Just moved to Birmingham and remember my friend at Aston showing me this place couple of years ago! Have to get myself down! Although also have to brush up on my gaming skillz!
