Own up, what weird PC habbits do you have which don't make sense but you do them anyway?

1. Keyboard short cuts - I always use them, even if it is actually quicker in some cases to click something with a mouse :p

2. History/suggestions it bugs me like crazy - I try my best to remove it, even from the bookmarks I have in FireFox. Even though at work I use the same few websites almost all the time I still won't use the suggestion thing :p

3. I have the annoying CTRL+C to copy something and then select the text I want to paste over and CTRL+C again :rolleyes:

4. I actually use the Windows key a lot for the start menu, rather than clicking it O.o

5. My files are in random places, and so a lot of the music I have, files and documents and work related items are split up in various drives, in various folders which have names basically the same as a previous drive. (for example d: stuff and e: stuff).

If there is a keyboard shortcut, then It won't be quicker with a mouse. I do most things (bar web browsing) using the keyboard.

In the same vein, I mainly use the command line for administration. Be that local computer, domain/active directory, etc etc.

I only allow a maximum of 4 icons on the desktop. Also, windows generally have to be maximised, or in the precise location of the screen (like firefox has to take up exactly half of the screen and finished perfectly at the edges!)

The need to obsessively organise my files.
Yeah, I do that. I have quite excessive directory structures :(

Ditto to both of those. Windows are either maximised or fitted to the edges of the screen. On the desktop, I've got a vertical list of 7 apps and then network places and HDDs across the bottom. In order for the nasty names not to be next to them, I've also named them all with ALT+0160.

For some reason I often go out of my way to resize and move windows around to make a "drag and drop" possible when cut&paste would be loads easier.

When thinking about something I'll go to the desktop and drag the mouse to draw boxes around icons etc, it drives everyone crazy.

I always try and open about 6 programs before windows completely finishes opening up even when I know it will just take it longer for me to get to my programs.

I used to have this. I have a collection of media on a drive. Around 150gigs worth. For the past few years i've been building up a folder on that drive called 'Sort'.

This Sort folder weighs in at about 200gigs!

I'm so tempted to just delete it and download it all again rather than arrange it in it's proper place! :p

SOme shortcuts are quicker with mouse, for example dragging a layer above another in photoshop, that kind of thing. There are a few others I can't think of right now.

I have to sync my Firefox profile with the work laptop and netbook every time I make a change to either one.

It is a life or death situation if this is not done.

Drives - always seem to keep OS/apps on one and data on another, even if it's just a separate partition, as if that's going to save stuff if the HDD goes. It dates back to the days of Ghosting my drive every few months to rid it of spyware!

Downloads - separate folder for these, organised precisely of course into subfolders for games, wallpaper, utilities etc. No pr0n though, although it use to be similarly categorised..

Drivers - I hate installing any drivers from logitech or creative. Historical reasons!

I generally use keyboard shortcuts for everything, but still right click > properties on "my computer" even though I know the windows key + pause/break does the same thing. I just can't get in the habit of it!

When im reasding things i always select and deselect the text very fast constantly. Its fine for me when reading but people get angry when doing it when they are reading. I also have to have my icons around the edge of the screen and not in the middle. I have also started typing "because" as "becuase" which i cant seem to snap out of.........

Closing programs when I'm not using them but wanted them left open for later and losing work. I know its probably one of the most common ones but I do it constantly, always click "don't save" and I never learn from it.

I suppose I'm a stickler for file organisation too, if you saw my system you could use it as a technical manual even if you didn't know anything technical - It's that detailed yet highly organised :p

It's a habit that has become routine so I wouldn't put it into the OP's category though since it's done automatically without me even realising now.
