Not too fussed on what it is, for example, English, Indian, Chinese etc.
It has to be close to the Park Plaza Hotel which is on 41 Maid Marian Way, NG1 6GD.

Looking at around £20 - £30 per head.

Many thanks :)

Park Plaza - you're spoilt for choice in terms of Indian restaurants.

Mem Saab is good - haven't been in a while but usually a solid choice
4550 miles to delhi - not my favourite but some of my indian friends loved it
Curry Lounge - Was on Kitchen Nightmares, food was pretty good but service is a bit pushy. We were in and out of there in under an hour which might work out well sometimes but we didn't get a chance to breathe!
Laguna - Heard some good things but never been myself

The place I usually go for some good honest English food is the **** & Hoop pub in the lace market, it's part of the lace market hotel and the kitchen is the same as merchants (£50/head sorta place). The food is usually good and very reasonable and it has a nice cosy relaxed atmosphere. It is a bit of a walk (10mins) from Park Plaza though.

There are also places like World Service & Harts but both are going to be more like £40/head for a 3 course meal for dinner - however Lunch is much cheaper (you didn't specify but i assume dinner). Either way i'd recommend both, I haven't been to either for a while but they have always been consistent.

For a bit of a different option there is Pretty Orchid (Thai), again towards lace market way (near the lace market end entrance to broadmarsh shopping centre). I've been a few times, sometimes it can be really good, but it is a bit hit and miss. It's reasonably priced though.

Hope that helps!

World service is mear but a bit more pricey, very good though

as said Mem Sabb is good

also Chino Latino which is part of your hotel

Chino Latino in your hotel, as suggested by Rotty, is superb. World Service is great but I'd prefer Chino Latino.

If Chutneys is open still then that's just 2 minutes away and is the best Indian imo.

The best Indian in Nottingham has to be Mogal-E-Azam in Royal Centre. Just follow the tram line up past Debenhams and Flares - it's about 30m from the tram stop. Best Indian I've had. Chicken Chaat for starters can never fail the taste test.

Edit: It's on Goldsmith street!

Forgot about Chino Latino, which does indeed have a good reputation and is about as convenient as it gets!

Never heard of Mogal-E-Azam though - is it new?

It's been a while since I was in Nottingham so this might be out of date...

Chutneys was better than the Mogal but both are a bit more casual than the likes of Mem Saab or 4550 Miles. Personally I preferred Chutneys of the 4 but it's more of a night out curry place than a nice meal place.

Is Petit Paris still there? They used to do a sublime fillet steak topped with Stilton.

Opium in the Lace Market was a cracking chinese. Difficult to find if you don't know where to look but certainly worth the trek, it's a good 10-15 minute walk from the Park Plaza.

No idea where this is but when I was in Nottingham last, I went to a restaurant that did all sorts of different foods. Indians, Chinese, English etc. Think it was near the hockey place.

Was delicious :)

Where you are and if you want Indian then definitely go to Memsaab, supposed to be the best Indian in Nottingham and one of the best in the UK.

Red Hot Buffet Shack?

Great if you enjoy food that's prepared in a microwave from frozen. Awful place imo!

Opium - I think it's massively overpriced for what it is. Been there a couple of times but you will pay £8-9 for a dish that is £4-5 in any other chinese and i've been to a lot better chinese restaurants for less.

Lol, Mogal rules the known world....and a few unknown ones too. :D
Been there countless times....

Also, my fave....Flaming Dragon, about 250yds away in the Cornerhouse (opposite Royal Concert Hall). All you can eat chinese. Sure you queue for your food, but at £13.99 a head you can spend all night troffing in there. They have loads of choice including tepanyaki, and the chefs regualrly come round to your table with extras, like sizzling meat on sticsk etc, all sorts.
There's also wagamamas below it on the opposite corner of the cornerhouse.
Notts has soooo many decent restaurants to choose from.
Personally, i don't like Mem Saab and not keen on Red Hot Buffet Shack either.

[De Nero accent]" Get da fork outta hee!"[/De Nero accent]

Are you kidding me?
Its older than Nottingham itself, lol.

Its exaclty opposite the backstage exit of the Theatre Royal, and its inside walls are plastered with the photos of old stars who've visits the Mogul, like Keith Harris and Orville.... :)

Dude, it aint as fancy as Anillas (50yds up the road), but its food is top drawer.
