As title, just built the pc today & Ive noticed that its only seeing 4Gbs..
Any ideas?

Gigabyte UD4P
Core i7 920
6Gbs Corsair 1333Mhx

Just realised I haven't yet installed SP1 so will do that & see if it makes a difference!
Haven't even looked in the BIOS yet..

Installed SP1, re-seated the ram, still only 4098 showing. aaarrrrghh! Anyone else had this issue with a UD4P or UD5?

The weird thing is that CPUZ shows 6144 Mb but windows only 4094 Mb.
Does this mean that Windows wont utilize the additional 2Gb's?

Any advice appreciated..

I've got the exact same problem with a P6T Deluxe and 6Gb Gskill 1333Mhz... Sometimes it shows 6Gb and other times its 4Gb, I know its a known problem with my board but wasn't sure whether it happens on others.. Everything i've done has failed.

Also, another issue with mine is that its 100% rock solid stable when it detects 4Gb, but it crashes its head off when it detects 6Gb, even if its hardly overclocked... at 4Gb and 4Ghz its rock solid stable in prime/games/anything..

One thing mine did do, in the bios it was detecting my memory timings as 8-8-8-20, when the actual memory isn 9-9-9-24, however manually changing the value in the Bios to what its meant to me made no difference for some reason :(

Actually, my BOIS timings were at 7-7-7-20 as far as I can remember when they should be 9-9-9-24..

hmmmm.

I just realised that I hadn't actually installed SP1 so downloading it now.
Will see if that changes anything - I doubt it..

SP1 or whatever won't make a difference, as it'll be the BIOS thats not detecting the memory, which obviously dictates everything that happens afterwards.. Did you change the timings on yours? if so did it make any difference?

Not yet, If I am to do so, should I just change them to their stated timings?
Would it have anything to do with voltage?

I am a bit clueless about this, sorry! :(

How much memory is the system showing at POST, before you enter the OS? And, you do need SP-1 or the 4GB+ patch for Vista when using 4+GB of memory. Let us know if SP-1 resolves this for you.

Aaah, cool. Fingers crossed for SP1 then - will keep u posted.
many thanks.

SP1 made no difference other than it now shows 4000Mb as opposed to 4094 previously..
Ive tried applying a hotfix (KB929777) but it says it doesnt apply to my system..

Is this the wrong hotfix?
