It has to be a gene defect surely, it just has to be otherwise why would these drivers drive like they do?

This morning I was taking a sneaky route to bypass 5-10mins of traffic on M27 by taking J8 roundabout onto 2nd exit and flying over the ramp onto J7 so whilst on the roundabout (inside lane as if to take 1st or 2nd exit) a white van stop up in the outside lane beside me so naturally he'd be taking the 2nd or 3rd/4th exit but no....as we both join the roundabout he starts coming into the lane I'm in and takes the first exit! no indication, he didn't even look left as I was looking at him thinking WTF.

I'll thank myself for the info.jpg :)

they are the worst. i think it was proven somewhere.

or certainly, ask any cyclist what they think of white vans!

I bought a white van a couple months back. I would suggest you try driving a van as the blind spot is huge on mine, I do check thoroughly but can understand if you missed something.

Is the blind spot inclusive of the passenger window and windscreen as well? because if it's not then this WVM was a classic WVM because he rolled up next to me so clearly would have seen me in the left lane plus he did an illegal manoeuvre to begin with so either way had no excuse blind spot or not.

It's not the first time either, I've seen it happen to other people before/

I can confirm wvm are terrible in London, cycling down the A11 main road in the bus lane (as we are allowed to do) and WVM in side road junction looking directly at me just pulls out.

If they can't cope, they shouldn't be driving.

Likewise as a car driver. If you cannot anticipate that another vehicle and driver are not going to driver 100% perfectly and instead get plowed into all of the time then you are also a liability.

If you're anticipating everyone else's driving all the time then you're not concentrating on your own driving enough or are driving too slow all the time in anticipation of someone driving like a tool - a liability in itself.

The better option of the 2 is that bad drivers need to get their driving skill improved instead of good drivers having to anticipate every bad driver because you don't know who will and won't be a bad driver (in a car anyway). Likewise not every bad driver will drive bad all the time. You just have to go with the flow I guess....

In the recent really bad snow, while everyone was staying in the slow lane due to the fast lane being about 7 inches deep, there were the typical white van men flying long at like 90mph in the fast lane...I wish them a slow death, burning in their crashed van

Was driving out of the city centre not long ago, middle of three lanes and the white van on the left cut across us without indication and nearly took us out with his trailer. Annoying but your always ready to compensate for someone pulling that kind of crap.
This guy though decides the right hand lane is crap and pulled back across our lane into the left hand lane, again without indicating leaving me to slam the anchors on to avoid his trailer. At that point i hit the horn as much for his benefit as mine, of course the guy has to hang out of his window and hurl abuse.

I dont give a crap about them failing to compensate for their blind spots, thats what the rest of us have to do for them in order to keep our cars in one piece.
I kind of agree with what Mrk said a couple of posts back but ive been in so many situations where ive avoided having a crash was because i had anticipated someone else doing something stupid.

Moderate anticipation is normal thing yup, your example is an example of that. My point though was about constantly watching other drivers which is fine because you're ready if they make a mistake but what are you going to do if you make a mistake or another driver cuts in form another angle whilst you're watching a tool the other side!

We can't win either way I guess as I mentioned, you just have to go with it !

In my Op I did not think the van man was going to drive like a tool at first since he approached in the outside lane and stopped as such so by all observation he was going 2nd exit or round the roundabout, it was only until I noticed his side coming closer to me I realised that he was cutting me up and going 1st exit and braked.

It is there God given right to drive how they want & ignore All other road users as you are only poncing about where as they are trying to earn a living. On top of that you are in your Prize possession where as they are in a Company van :p

*Allegedly* :D
