Who has SKY HD+?

A note to anyone that has it. Been reading quite a few reports that SD quality is worse on the HD boxes than the old Sky+ ones? Anyone experienced this?

lol @ paying £9.75 for the extra pixels when HD should be free for digital subscribers anyway.

I can't fault my install tbh.

49 quid for the HD box ,installed within 2 days and it look great.

Dolby Digital into my Onkyo 876

Snappy interface and recording fucntion....No point in getting just a + box right now.

Is anyone's HD box quite loud? Ours is a Samsung and it must be a fan because I dont think the HD could be making the relative noise ours makes.

There is a big thread on avforums, apparently thousands of PACE HD boxes are being recalled by sky, but it is optional. No reasons being given

Maybe sky don't want all those good boxes out there, and need to get rid of all their Thomsons ;)

Apparently it's all Pace boxes. They appear to have a major design flaw causing them to fail. Stock could be the reason installations are taking so long at the moment.

Sky are offering three months free HD to those whoes box they recall, but you do lose all your recordings.

The unlimited downloads only apply to the max broadband package, the mid has a 40 gig limit and the base has a 2 gig, though I'm on base, regularly download on Iplayer and have never once been called up on it.

Interesting note for the future, just had a HD brief in work. Apparently they'll be launching 3D on sky within the next 18 months to 2 years but this'll be done through the existing HD boxes so no further upgrade required. And the anytime function will be upgraded to a much bigger on-demand service in the near future.

Does Sky HD require a new dish? or will the standard one suffice? Here there's a communit dish, and I get maybe a half to three quarters signal strength, will this affect the channels at all?

Do any of you guys have SKY HD on a 720p HD Ready TV? Mine's a 46" 720p and I am wondering if it will be worth while upgrading my Sky sub to HD+ with the current £49 offer. I have only seen SKY HD demonstarted on Full HD TVs in stores so I dont know if there'll be much of a differeance

I don't have Sky HD but Freesat HD on a 42" plasma with 768p reolution. The difference is massive and definitely worth it. On freesat unfortunately you still only have bbc hd and itv hd still. Besides 1080 resolution can only be properly appreciated from 6 feet or so on a 42" screen. Don't know about 46".

Heh.
It was supposed to be last october when I got mine installed. Then I was told february. Im not holding my breath . . . . :D

Well I saw a demo of it so they must have ironed out the glitches by now. Lots of small improvements in the functionality and certainly looks impressive.

Now if they only start handing out employee discounts to their outsourcing partners I'd be laughing!:(

Will the EPG only work on newer boxes? I imagine it will be an update downloaded via the dish? Just wondering if our ancient Pace box will be able to receive it...
