Yo yo

i should be getting 50mb Virgin media internet next week (should = they actually turn up lol).... i currently have 20mb with them... i run a speed test every now and again and i like to use speedtest.net, but that only goes upto 30+ mbs.

does anyone know of any speedtest sites that have the ability to test 50+mb bb?

Adam

Good luck with the 50mb install, ive been reading horror stories on other forums with people having bad performance, very slow downloads, slower than their original 20mb service.
Its just teething problems as its new equipment etc and hopefully your install will go smooth.

I was tempted myself when Stoke got upgraded last week but i cant justify the price increase, i dont mind waiting 30mins to download a 4gig linux iso!.

had 50meg installed today loving it so far no problems:D

But i do think i have a slight problem :s

Does any 1 know what the throughput is from wan to lan for the linksys wrt54gs v4 router ?

what is ur max max max download and upload speeds??

on 50atm its about 19800 kbs down and 785 up...

i dont know the answer to ur q :p

nvm found what i was after my router wan to lan throughput is 33mbps. so time for a upgrade :D

Where abouts in stoke on trent are you?, i was thinking about getting 50mb but a lot of the ubr's in stoke are full so i dont think i would get very good speeds with 50mb

from what i read there on a totally new network which vm rolled out. which the 50mb service runs on so technically it wouldnt matter about the ubrs as its a totally diff network. or so i read anyways

It'll still have to link up with the same VM core network somehow for peering. If they'd bought whole new peering agreements there wouldn't be a need for them to increase their traffic shaping.

got my install for free :D

but went out today and got a decent router instead of the the 1 i had or the 1 they are sending me :D

From what ive been tolkd is that the 50meg service is in the same network as all the others but they have
just upgraded certain parts of there hardware to cope with 50meg was allso told the upload will be going up later this year :D
