Southampton Ikea Opening today

\m/ just browsing their site and I see a few things that tickle my fancy, desk lamp included for only a few quid.

Traffic will no doubt be a problem but that is mainly getting into Soton but since I'm already in there... :p

That's fine with me, rather wait in queue and drive home in no traffic than wait in traffic :D

You'd rather stand up in a queue for an hour than sit in traffic in your car for an hour? I know the 3 Series interior is a bit cruddy and low rent but surely its not THAT bad?!

Hey it's not the car cabin I'm concerned about! it's the having to stop>go>stop>go for an hour that I dislike the most about the 5pm commute home :p

So yeah, I'd rather give the shop queue an hours blast while I browse the multifloor store and then drive home at say 6-6:30 and have no traffic at all!

This weekend in Southampton is going to be a nightmare for traffic, it's bad enough on an average weekend without all the people that'll be coming down to go to ikea, and to top it all off they built it at the bottom end of southampton so everyone has to drive through the city to get to it, frankly it's retarded.

Well it's retarded for us but great for them as it's slap next to everything shoppingy :S

I lol'd :D

I definaltey need a new PC chair but will visit the new Ikea on my bi-annual shop to Southampton. More visits that that in a year is just not needed...damn **** hole :D

Ahh yes Maccy moving to the ownage that is Southsea :) I assume as it's September you are a student to be?

If so then you should be saving your student money on things other than furniture (beer for example) :D

No idea, doesn't sound like Southsea though. There are a lot of people who live local or own houses locally who say they live in Southsea, when in actual fact it's closer to dumps like Eastney, Fratton, Summerstown, etc :)

Is it near any significant landmarks? First year Uni?

It could be classed more in Fratton I suppose. It's off Fawcett road, about 5 mins from Fratton Station too.
Will be going into my second year in September.

6 weeks? its never going to be the same again, plus all the car parks are pushing their prices up, I will ride my bike to Ikea see what I like then order online :p

6 weeks or driving hell begins :(

Ahahah that's what you get!!!!

To Maccy: If you are 5 minute walk from Fratton you are barely on the boarder of Southsea if you are lucky :) Although the person you are renting/bought from probably tells you Southsea because it's generally the best place in Portsmouth by a country mile; insurance goes down, house prices go up, etc, etc.

I worked in the Milton Keynes Ikea when it first opened. Seriously, its hell. I would leave it a few weeks.
