hi,

running off a 3850 graphics card dvi-hdmi, picture is fine, anyone got a system running where the sound is working ?

tried checking the net but can't find a conclusive idea of what needs doing or what cable i'm likely to need for the sound, and whether i need to make any changes on the pc to make it work.

cheers.........

Are you using the ATI dongle or just a DVI=> HDMI?

Assuming you want the audio over HDMI, I think you need to use said dongle and also make sure your running latest drivers.

Plenty of info if googled.

tried googling and searching forums not really come up with anything concrete as a guide, more than likely just me i guess.

just dvi-hdmi, no idea what the ati dongle is you mentioned so will try and find out.

cheers

EDIT: found out about the dongle, but there like dragons teeth in the uk by the looks of it :(.

IIRC the xxV4000 has the same inputs as my 40W4000. What you need to do is run the dvi-hdmi cable to HDMI2 on the back of the TV and the mini-jack audio out from the PC's soundcard/mobo line out to the mini-jack socket next to HDMI2. That way the TV takes the video from the HDMI port and the audio from the jack socket.

Which Soundcard are you using ?

I have the same TV and I have a HDMI Cable plugged into my Videocard using the DVI-HDMI Adaptor.

Then in my sound settings of my Realtek Soundcard I change the output to HDMI output in Control Panel.

using an x-fi.

read about changing the settings to hdmi but cant see anything with that option, any chance u could post a screen print ?

got home and had a rummage through my box of pc bits and found what looked like the ati dongle i'd heard about, but my tv wont detect the pc connection using it , but is still fine with the dvi/hdmi lead :(.

is the jack the one next to the vga connector on the tv ?

It looks like that's the one you want. The V4000 is actually a bit different to mine (I've got separate jacks for the VGA & HDMI2 ports) but it looks to operate in the same way although you need to use HDMI3

The manual suggests that you also need to set the option named "PC Audio Input" in the setup menu to pair the jack input with HDMI3.

cheers RP :D

had problems with dvi-hdmi into hdmi2 didnt want to seem to detect, but put it into hdmi3 and 3.5mm jack from soundcard to connection next to vga and there is sound :D
