Looking at the Sony Bluetooth Wireless Keypad. Had a keyboard plugged in most of the time but was interested in replacing it with this. Does it come with a dongle that plugs into a USB port or does it just work? Anyone got one? They worth the £20?

This is what has turned me off getting one

its hard to use, has its own battery, has to charge seperately (i.e. cant plug in controller with pad plugged in at once), has to be turned off and on seperately. So inconveniences, to be honest I would use a small bluetooth keyboard, i mean like a normal one

It's Bluetooth (like the headsets and controllers) so it doesn't need any dongles. It comes a with a USB cable so you can pair it easily (you just USB to PS3 once and it is paired) and you use this to charge teh built in rechargeable battery as well. It auto turns off or standby's so the battery lasts a very long time imo.

I have one, and think it is worth it, if you use the keyboard a lot, you will use this a lot. Take a bit of getting used to where the extra symbols and stuff are, but you can type fast once you learn.

i have a dell bluetooth keyboard, how would i go about connecting it with the ps3?

Settings>>Manage Bluetooth Devices>>Register New Device will be a good start.

After that I imagine you will have to put your keyboard into discovery mode and type a generic passcode from your Dell documentation into the PS3, to pair it (usually 0000 or something like that).

Cheers for that rp. Just what I wanted to hear!

I have the official Sony keypad and I think it's great. Doesn't get in the way of any of the buttons either and is nicely balanced so the controller still feels nice to hold. As rp2000 said the battery lasts a long time although I normally turn mine off when not in use (@Kappa hardly an inconvinience as its a little switch on the side - more inconvience to pick up a proper keyboard imo).
