It's also affected by things as meaningless as a seatbelt beeper - the E60 5 Series went from 4 stars to 5 stars after BMW added a bong if your seatbelt isn't on. Pathetic.
NCAP is a bit like Windows Vista's "Experience Index". Completely meaningless and inaccurate.
Also all classes of car are crashed at the same speed into the same object are they not?
NCAP said:Each car tested is subjected to an offset impact into an immovable block fitted with a deformable aluminium honeycomb face.
NCAP said:The second most important crash configuration is car to car side impact. Euro NCAP simulates this type of crash by having a mobile deformable barrier (MDB) impact the driver’s door at 50 km/h.
Just don't crash!Whilst the overall score is odd due the them including passive safety into the overall score rating.... But the dummy loadings are correct and these are what you should look at since it shows what actual protection is offered to you.
