Cheap pc upgrade for my parents

Hey, my parents pc(that i built about 3 years ago) needs upgrading.

Now its an old amd althlon 64 so i need pretty much everything apart from a case.

Looking at around £350-400 max?

It will be used bascially for email/banking etc etc, no gaming as i've left home now

Any ideas? Thanks

Wouldnt bother buying a gfx card. So unless you are upgrading the keyboard/screen etc, with memory, processor and HD, you are talking £125.

how about a format and reinstall, if they are just banking and email, then my old 400mhz cpu can do that.

22 inch might be worth looking at, same res but larger image makes it easier to see if eyesight is an issue

Its making lots of weird noises, plus they just want to upgrade in general for vista (dont ask, just...DONT ASK)

They are currently using an old school either 17 or 19" crt and have no problems viewing so i think a 20" widescreen will be ok

The E5200 isn't compatible with that AMD mobo and you don't need a 400W psu a 200W will do the job fine.

No need to go with a processor that high spec, go with something down the E2xxx range, they work fine in a lot of workstation PCs we put out...

EDIT: Didn't notice the AMD mobo

and the minute price difference on the E2xxx to the E5200

This would do them fine in regards to CPU.
This would be perfect for PSU.

get the e5200 instead. no point in getting a e2200 now days unless the MB is not compatible with 45nm cpus

No, i belive the card is running via agp

edit: oh that mobo doesnt have agp does it?
