260....280..... now 285...

Because I sold the 280 for £250 and bought the 285 for £145

DON'T you will not notice a worth while difference. Before I lucked out on this 285 I fully regretted sending my 260 ssc back to pay £30 extra for the 280, that's why I sold it.

The 285 is faster hands down so for the £30 it will cost me to step up it seems worth it.

Only differences are, they've shrunk the 280 and stuck it on a smaller process (55nm now instead of 65nm), got Rivatuner out and overclocked it (which is free), and then changed the 0 to a 5 so they can bang it back out at a much higher price, as its now become a higher series card, and they had to can the 280's, so no one could buy those instead of the 285's and do the overclock themselves. :)

Nvidia are sods for doing that, has to be said =/

Whats the issue, the 285 is a refresh of the 280. Its not like they've done a 8800gts/9800gtx all over again.

Your order for PNY Verto Geforce GTX285 / 1GB / PCI Express 2.0 / Graphics Card has been posted.

Yippee :D

Anyony know if the back of the card is exposed? or is it all swa nky like my 260 and 280 were?

Yeah i agree, but i think their justification is we have to pay the extra cash for the technology of the 55nm

Can I get the back of a 280 and put it on my 285? :)

(I know the memory has been moved it would purely be to make it look better)
