i bought something with it 3 hours ago but nothing is showing up on my card yet, this is the first time i have had to use it to pay for something so does anyone know how long they usually take?

Well took over 1 month for Google Checkout to issue me a refund of £700 from a retailer I usually pay direct but Google checkout did a discount, I personally wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole they don’t even have a phone number you have to email them. Just pay direct.

too late now :( i placed the order with them already so now i can only hope they charge my card in time for it to be sent out monday morning

Maybe I just had one of those experience so I shouldn’t really say don’t touch them with a barge pole but what shocked me the most is undoubtedly the biggest company out there doesn’t have telephone support you have to rely on emails.

i would be saying not to touch them with a barge pole too if that had happened to me ;)

do you remember how long it took them to take the money from your account when you first placed your order?
i have been phoning my bank often since i placed it to see when they charge my card but they still havent

i just found out that its up to the seller to charge my card so i guess that explains it :) thanks for the replies

Used it once to get a £10 discount with a competetor (cheapist router in teh world at like £9) and that was ok.

Used it again just before christmas as i was a bit bored and it took nearly a month for my shoes to turn up :(.

Anyway just aim for direct payments (its not all that good)

I used google checkout when it first came out at my last place of work, when you place an order we had to check the order and accept it first before they charged the card, we personally had to check the order to make sure we had stock and make sure it didnt look dogey ;) altho they went bust a year ago so I lost my job, not sure if it is the same now

I used them had no problems, saved £10. Did get to sample their customer service so I can't comment on how good they are dealing with a problem.

we bought something through google checkout, got charged but nothing was delivered. Luckily it was only about a £1 but still.....

thanks for all the info :) i know i can trust the seller because i know some people who used them in the past to buy things, i dont think google checkout was around then tho

i was under the impression that google would charge my card and then let the seller know :p now i know that its up to the seller to accept the payment everything is fine, i thought that there might have been a cockup with the system :) would have been just my luck

I use it quite often, love it.
It's almost dangerous how easy it is to buy stuff with it, all you have to type is your email password, and click two or three times. You can end up completing the sale before you've really figured out if you should.
It probably takes me less than a minute to do the whole process, from searching on Froogle, adding to cart and finishing the google checkout. It's actually become a bigger factor than price for me when deciding who to buy from as I hate having to dig out my card details and fill out all my details to get yet another account that i'll probably never use again.

My tip is, if your not 100% sure on what you are ordering and you feel you might have a change of heart on what you are purchasing, stay away from Google Checkout.

Reason why is Google checkout will take the full amount instantly from your bank/credit account and hold on to it. Then it can take up to 5 days after the date of cancelation, It can be less depending on your bank.

Even worse is Google Checkout do not have a telephone support line, everything is done by email, and you can expect to be given a ton of automated crap and are never sure if you are actually typing to human or a bunch of auto responce macro gibberish. If your lucky enough to get in contact with someone in google checkout that has a pulse it is still all on luck if they are able to help you get a speedier return on your refund.

If your certain that you won't be having second thoughts, however I have found them to be decent but in many ways what you get in speedier payment/checkout you lose in flexability, such as editing an order or making amendments before your order dispatches, when if you pay direct you still have that flexabillity with most places as long as your order has not been dispatched already.
