6 weeks to go

I've always longed for a 599 but never had the chance to drive one until this year. No, the Ferrari badge wasn't the draw for me. Experiencing a truly incredible driving experience did the trick. I cannot think of a single car that exists that is more capable performance wise without a serious disadvantage as a result. The closest is the 911 Turbo, especially if it becomes available with PDK.

Oddly enough I drove a Bentley Continental GT Speed on the same day and hated it. Great cars but no passion and far too heavy.

Ah cool stuff, how long has the 599 been out for now?

Either way your gonna thoroughly enjoy it and I think next time I'm up North you need to let me take pics of it ;)

I asked this before but it didn't get answered. Do you get a choice of how you get your Ferrari? Delivered? Pick it up from Italy?

I went to the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello 2 years ago, would be amazing to collect one from there.

Actually no I didn't, but I'm going to the factory this year.

Different type of car though surely? The bently's a 2+2 with a big boot.

Were you not tempted by a Lambo? New LP560-4 is pretty mean i hear

Very nice!

I watched a 'Mega Factories' documentary on Discovery the other night and it was all about how they made the Ferrari 599. I was quite amazed at the level of craftsmanship and detail that all the employees goto to make the car what it is. The factory itself is state of the art - the engine works have trees growing inside to provide the best and most natural levels of humidity for the alloys used.;)
This program is on again this afternoon at 6pm, Sky channel 526, National Geo. Its a bit cheesy in presentation, but still very interesting to see the 599 being made :)

No, I wanted a sports car.

...

Looks sporty enough for me!!

We all like different things I guess :D

When I worked at Jaguar and the XK coupe was being made, I used to love watching the Robotic arms at work, but most of the parts are hand fitted.
The most impressive factory I have worked at so far is RR/Bentley, I'm sure Ferrari would be similar.

I've driven several Ferraris on "red letter" days, and never really found them interesting or exciting, certainly nowhere near as entertaining to drive as the Cerbera I owned at the time. Although, granted, most people's idea of being entertained isn't the constant fear of death in the wet.

Maybe that's just the uneducated ruffian in me...but I don't watch Eastenders...go figure...

I'd buy one just to look at it though, clearly...but if I'm going to do that I might as well just buy a picture of one; it's cheaper and there's less chance of some jealous idiot keying it/widdling on the windscreen/sticking a turd up the exhaust. All of which has happened to a guy I work with who has a 360.

:)

Why would Spie want a tarted up Merc? Not saying it's not a nice car but the SL comes in various guises, 599 comes in one, more exclusive and IMO going on what ive read and watched on JC's vids the 599 is an astonishing car.

Yep, the Scuderia is a stripped out and focussed beast.

Ive seen one go past me watching the classic adelaide :D

I was only a few metres from the road and it had to have been reving at atleast 7000RPM!
The sound rattled my insides it was so loud and it sounded great, I dont think ive ever had such a horn:p
