I have the 40" with the black frame that has the red tint and touch sensitive panel. I always thought VGA looked better than HDMI even though HDMI should look better because it's digital but even though I spend my entire funds on this great TV VGA still looks better than HDMI. Now who lied to me and told me HDMI was better? I posted this thread as I'm talking about VGA and HDMI though the 360.

Depends on how your set handles the source material through each of it's available connections. My TV handles HDMI PS3 content far better than my Xbox360 does via VGA.

My 40" sammy handles the 360 best through component as I get zero screen tearing on Dead Rising and several other games. Soon as I use the MS VGA cable I get screen tearing on most games. I put this down to a PAL60 VGA update MS did in Fall 06 as before then it was perfect but despite several people complaining its never been fixed.

On my sammy i used to prefer VGA because it made the image slightly softer so looked a lot better IMO, but it is all personal preference really.

vga from what? are we talking about every source or just your 360, because your asking quite a different question then. you might just prefer the added sharpness of the xbox's vga output - nothing wrong with that.

I've always preferred the 360s VGA image over the HDMI image on any TV I've seen, for the same reason as Jumpurs.

Personal preference probably has a lot to do with it, but I can't stand the jaggies you always end up with on any TV over HDMI. The soft VGA picture always looks nice to me.

Ive got an older gen Samsung now - Ive had it for a good few years now. Quickly realised how much more awesome VGA was on my tv, it seems to provide more detail aswell as well as making the picture softer.

I only wish I could use VGA for my PS3

On my 40inch sony downstairs component looks better than HDMI, in my bedroom 22inch acoustic solutions HDMI looks a hell of a lot better. Weird :)

I've always used component on my R87 Sammy because it looks better than HDMI for me.

HDMI and DVI are both digital but does and I notice DVI tends to have a better picture quality too. Maybe when consoles support full 1080p HDMI may start too look a lot better.

HDMI with sharpness reduced a LOT gives me the same image as VGA on my LG TV.

Same as my Samsung 6. Some games I run on normal with softer settings

Others I run with game mode on, its very sharp which is great for FPS games, games like PES09 and GTA look worse on it though.

Both uses are through HDMI (my amp receives HDMI sound so I have no intention of going to VGA).

I have noticed that when using vga that blacks seem much more "black"

But using HMDI games feel like they are running smoother, I am not sure if this is a placebo or not but it certainly feels that way
