Afternoon all,

I am wanting to build a new computer but I am unsure what to buy. Can you spec me a full system including a dual 20¨ monitors please? I also need a keyboard / mouse. Ideally I would like an Intel I7 as I was told this is really good. Any help much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

any reason for dual 20". if your a gamer you would be much better of with at least 24" as the main screen

do you need a blu-ray drive?

How much hdd space do you require?

Does it need to be "silent"

and whats your main use.

Do you really want 3 raptors in raid 0.

3/4 Samsung f1's in raid 0 would be fast and so much cheaper with a proper raid card for handling them. Your talkign £600 on there own for the raptors and they are no quite..

I was thinking 74GB Raptor or a Solid State Drive for Windows (do not include operating system in your spec price please). Then going for 1TB of Samsung F1's...

So you would want 2 fast drives in raid 0 for windows and a 1tb storgae drive. Is that right? or just one fast hdd for windows and 1 storage drive.

Yay for scrapping raido 0, should be able to get dual 24" monitors with that budget. but there database is up and down like a yo-yo. So might take a while to spec.

Couldn't quite get 24" monitors in with blu-ray and wont be quite. But can upgrade cooling over time and can drop in a 2nd gtx285 later when they are cheap and you need a boost.

Ohh as you should get free postage, you could uupgrade cpu cooler to the noctua one. And still be in budget.

managed 2x22" monitors, think it will be nicer. left a £200 allowance for a SSD to install your OS (30gb should be all you need) and a case (too subjective), I will not recommend an SSD since I am not familiar with them enough, will let others.

PS - I would forget about Blu Ray for the moment, only films available and those are best played on proper blu ray player or PS3 that decode, upscale etc... than some crappy PC drive and not to mention simple fact you need a 1080p HD screen ;)

i would go for two 22" for the price they are

obviously change the case to suit your taste

and possibly go for a 4870X2 or a GTX 295 if you prefer the extra graphics boost

raptors are a waste of time

two 640 sammy F1's in RAID0 will be just as good

but this should do it :)

gives you £a bit to play with for peripherals etc
