VM (NTL/Telewest) have a thumbs up from me, never had any major problems with either my folks account (had cable internet for the last 7 years or, motorola surfboard days) or mine.

Daveyp - I'm pretty sure everything from the modem outwards is the property of Virgin Media, so it could potentially cause problems if you have to call an engineer out and they spot it. I know someone that got grilled by an engineer because he changed the cabling between the modem and the wall box.
I like Virgin, but in the past month my TV and modem keep going down, but the other 2 v+ boxes in the house are fine.
My broadband speed is good....
= 9.75 Mbps [Megabit-per-second]
I have the main wire coming in the house, which is split at the bottom of the stairs, one wire goes to the main V+ downstairs. The other wire comes up the stairs into my room which is split again. One going to the modem, other going to the V+. They keep flashing offline and i cant understand why? Is there too many splits ? If i take out the splitter in my room, and wire the TV direct, it connects up and seems to be fine. So either theres too many splits in the wire, or the spiltter in my room is faulty.
