Honda S2000

Hadn't thought of that. Still doesn't help when you're out and about though.

Ahh come on mate. You can't live like that. Just be careful where you park it and try not to be an arse when your driving around the area you live :p To most people its just another car with a convertible roof.

And please do not buy that one, its totally overpriced :(

Its hardly that overpriced, if its in perfect condition (with 3k miles i assume it is) then its not too bad. Red wouldnt be my choice though :P

16000 with a 2007 car? 6 months ago 2004 models were going for as much as 14k.

Its a Honda, peace of mind comes as standard. Buy a 2004 one and spend £6k on an amazing holiday driving it through Europe.

Agreed. phase 3 ones are so cheap now, but buy an 04 one, save the money, and go on a euro thrash. Wouldnt even need £6k for it, spend £2k on a euro thrash and bank the rest!

Hmmm, in the current climate that sort of money buys a nice 987 Boxster S or an early Z4M roadster. Both have higher running costs but much better cars IMO, lovely though the S2000 is.

I'm personally torn between the s2000 and the 350z, one of which I intend to buy in the next few months.

Test drove the s2000 yesterday at the honda dealership, it was an 07 but out of my price range. Lovely car to drive, overtaking needs to be thought out though - in the 350z I'd just pull out and hammer the throttle (regardless of the gear) in the S2000 you need to make sure the revs are up. Sounds amazing though.

Like suggested here, go for the 2004 or 05 model. As long as its Phase 3 you're laughing.

Hence why i think the one being considered is a stupid buy. The S2000 is a great car, for ~£7000-£8000. This budget is not S2000 money.

Overtaking in the S is pretty easy, but as highlighted many times before you just have to make sure your in the right gear at the right revs. If you want to be able to put your foot down and simply pull out, this wont be the car for you. I think the power delivery is pretty well documented.

Admittedly mine is a moonrock and parked undergound with a cover on it. But I'd be more concerned about mindless idiots knocking it when parking or putting dings in the door. That said a nice shiny new formula red should be easier to see I'd have thought. If you are worried about security then think about a hardtop, but in honesty, if someone is hellbent on damaging a car then they will. If its a serious concern where youre planning on parking it, then maybe think twice, as if damage happens it will only annoy you further.

I've been umming and arring about changing my S, for something German, either Porsche or a 4 door (RS4/M5), but I love being able to drop the top so easily, I love the fact it revs, and I love that its relatively light on fuel and servicing isnt expensive and love that it is being discontinued this year. Just a matter of time until classic status.

I've always 'dropped a cog' when overtaking as I've never driven anything particularly powerful and have to get every last ounce of power out the piddly engine, so that won't be an issue.

Jez, find me a post 2004 car in new formula red with a hard top for £8000, I've looked and I can't find any without having to drive to the other end of the country!

Well the appeal of post 2004 models are that they have the suspension upgrades, 17" alloys and more weight to the steering.

alloys, suspension upgrades can be done for a lot less than the premium you are paying ;]

Yet they still have a totally crap cheap plastic 1990's interior. Which is fine in an £8k Roadster, infact, its not bad for an £8k Roadster but come on, £16k allows you to move up in the world.

If interiors etc etc are not important to you - great - save a packet of cash and get an older S2000. The S2000 represents shocking value at the upper prices but great value at the lower prices.

Don't you remember the guy who bought the a4 or whatever, spent ages detailing it and someone poured paint stripper over it. He had no reasoning other than someone took a disliking to him putting so much effort into it

It was later found out he has peed someone off.

Added to this the difference in the drive will be negligible to the OP. He should drive both and get over the plate :)

im guessing he hasnt even driven one yet, given he doesnt know how big the cabin is!
go drive one before deciding anything
