Any quiet/silent 4870's out there?

Hi.
Im tossing around the idea of getting a 4870 1Gb due to the fact that they seem relativly cheap for what they do.
Add to that that they are AMD/ATI and i dont have to faff around with drivers as i currently use 2x ATI cards atm! lol.

Both my video cards are currently passivly cooled, so whilst i dont expect a 4870 to be quite as quiet as that, i wouldnt mind trying to find one thats as quiet as possible.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance all. :).

You will have to faff around with driver s as you put it, with new hardware youre best uninstalling the old ones (properly including reboot to safe mode and running driversweeper) and reinstall after installation of new hardware.
Re the card, if youre comfortable doing it you can install 3rd party coolers, I added antec Neo Vortexxs to mine and theyre nice n frosty and quieter than rest of system now

Not to the extent i would have to if i was moving from one manufacturer to another. & if i stick with ATI, i can keep one of my existing cards as a secondary.

Those Neo's look interesting.
Are they as good as any of the offerings from Zalman or Thermalright?

Quiets a realtive term but i have no complaints about a sapphire 1gb 4870 using the new cooler (looks like a box, 2 heatpipes looping out the top and 1 big fan in the middle) bit like the bigger "toxic" version

All recent review of 4870's 1gb's seem to note the power consumption is down and coooling is much improved vs launch. Looks like the firmwares been sorted and the revised chipsets and process is mature.

The new Sapphire coolers supposed to br pretty quiet. :)

I had one of those toxic coolers on mine, it was off within 2 days of buying it and replaced with an S1 + 2 x 92mm fans.

To me it sounded like a jet engine when it warmed up but now its totally silent. As said before though, quiet is a matter of interpretation.

My PC is in the living room and my wife could here it above the TV, that says to me it was too loud.
