How deluded can one man be, he's been awful in all but about 2 games this week and i'd put him as 4th choice striker at the moment without Arshavin even in consideration.

Here's the full story:

Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner believes that he should be considered the club's top striker and also said that he had not watched new signing Andrei Arshavin in action before he arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

The Dane wants more playing time.

The Dane is likely to play a prominent role for Arsene Wenger's team over the coming weeks after Emmanuel Adebayor was ruled out with a hamstring injury, but has, once again, added to his reputation as an egotist.

Even without Adebayor, Robin van Persie and Arshavin would appear to be ahead of him in the Gunners' pecking order, with the returning Eduardo and Theo Walcott also staking claims for inclusion.

However, despite a meagre return of just three goals in 18 games this season, Bendtner insists he should be considered the north Londoners' best frontman.

''I'm very sorry to see Adebayor injured as we need him fit and to be playing in the league,'' he told the Daily Mirror. ''But it does not really matter to me who is fit and available.

''I should start every game, I should be playing every minute of every match and always be in the team.''

His place is under threat from Russian striker Arshavin, who became one of the hottest properties in football after his brilliant performances at last summer's European Championships with Russia.

His signing earlier this month, for around £16m, was seen as a major coup for Wenger and the Gunners hierarchy, but Bendtner admits he had no idea what all the fuss was about.

''I've never seen Arshavin. I did not watch Euro 2008,'' he said. ''I've no idea what sort of player he is.''

Shouldn't he be positive and thinking that? I don't really see the problem with him believing that. I don't agree with him, but I fail to see the harm in it.

Stats are also wrong. 8 goals in 16 starts this season.

I don't think so, he thinks hes done enough to warrant being first choice striker which he clearly hasn't.

Those are premier leage only stats.

Looks at league table, looks at his form....no..no you shouldn't.

Plus nice way to talk about your new team mate, he has already had a bust up with another prima donna striker,

How has Arsenal lost their way over the years, I loved the ethics at the club and the style of play, its just not the same anymore.

I think strikers need arrogance, but he's really not good enough for Arsenal and it's absurb that he thinks he should be picked ahead of RvP, bordering on insanity.

Yeah it i a bit off how he mentions Arshavin.

We seem to have moved from lots of athletic pacey players to lots of slow technical ones, we don't counter attack any more and every team has ages to get all their players back to defend as we take so long to progress with the ball.

He doesnt actualy say he should be picked ahead of RVP. We play with two strikers up front. And by this years states, he should be starting ahead of Ade this season, who personally I am glad is injured so we drop him.

I would still rather see ed or Arshavin picked ahead of him tho.

Maybe he will get a run of games now and we can see how good he is. The good points are that he is positive, but the bad side is that he should be a little bit more kinder with his team remarks.

I think they should just get rid of him.

The guy said that he's wanted to play in pink boots since he was a child, how can you take someone like that seriously. He's nowhere near as good as Van Persie who is Arsenal's best striker, because Adebayor's head is at Barcelona this season.

I rate Bendtner quite highly when he's not being played as an out and out striker. He's a player who likes to drop off the striker and create as much as anything rather than score tons of goals. When he is given the chance to do this I think he does it quite well. He has great vision and can really pick an incisive pass.

i think he's getting worse with time actually and Wenger obviously agrees, he just gives the ball away too many times but he is a decent finisher on his day so i will give him that at least....i personally think we look terribly disjointed when he plays, there's no counter attack for one coz he's a slug.

but as the article indicates his biggest obstacle is his big head, he isn't nearly as good as he likes to think.

Loan him out i say :)

Guy is too inconsistent, in recent games he has been really poor. Against Spurs towards the end the ball was just bouncing off him at a time when we needed him to hold onto it.

I agree, because of his size you would think he is your conventional centre forward but he is actually nothing like that. Some of his better performances have actually come playing off Adebayor.

He's got a lot of confidence in his own ability and indeed looked very good for the reserves (....). But personally I only regard him as backup for the big 4 (RvP/Arshavin/Adebayor/Eduardo), a useful backup option to sling on when we need some height or to play out the domestic cups but nothing more than that.
