Hi there,

Well I thought i'd give water cooling a go for a laugh and being my first time the parts i've chosen are probably a bit over kill, but I guess its gives me head room for expansion. I have had a quick read of the sticky and followed some links off of that to get a rough idea of what I could need. I'll only be cooling the CPU to begin with which is currently an E6700.

The bits i've chosen:

XSPC DDC 10w Pro Pump/Reservoir (£58.74)
D-Tek Fuzion V2 Universal CPU Block (£46.99)
XSPC RS240 120mm Radiator - Black (£23.49)
Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 120mm Fan - 3/4 Pin x2 (£16.42)
D-Tek Fuzion v2 Quad Core Mid-Chamber Insert (£5.86)
Feser Aqua - Ultra Pure Water x2 (£9.38)
XSPC 7/16 UV Clear Blue - 1m x2 (£5.86)

Del (8.95)
Total 177.25

I've included the quad core insert just in case I acquire one shortly. The case that this will all be going in will probably be the spare Gigabyte GZ-X2, I currently use that for testing bits and bobs . Looking at the case i'm going to have to dremel the top for the radiator. its going to be a tight fit up the top if I mount it inside though.

I own a few large Lian Li cases, V2100+ and its predecessor etc, but don't want to be installing in them till I have things working 110%.

Anyhow, is what I have chosen ok? Anything I should change to maybe lower the price but get the same performance? Oh and I 'm a tad confused with the barbs/connectors to match the tubing.

Thanks in advance :)

im using the ocz hydroflow block on my quad - no problems with it and great temps with a single 120 rad

you would need 1/2" barbs for your tubing

would provide a nice tight fit

i dont use clips on my tubing as you dont need them with that setup

1 bottle of pure water is enough for one loop

i use the xspc bayres/pump

its £25 and is more than enough for most systems

here is a list of what i have and the price

ocz hydroflow block
xspc bayres/pump
tfc xchanger radiator
sharkoon silent eagle 2000 120mm fan
masterkleer 7/16" tubing
primochill coils
pure water coolant
d tek 1/2" barbs

came to £120

cools my q6600 very well - 55'c average @100% load for 8 hours [results here]

Did a bit of thinking about the bayres and not really liking the idea atm the moment so for the same price i've gone for XSPC X2O Compact 400. Changed the block to what you have suggested after reading some reviews.

So final spec I think will be:

OCZ HydroFlow HF-MK1 CPU Waterblock
XSPC-X20-400 XSPC X2O Compact 400 Pump
RS240B XSPC RS240 Black 240mm Radiator
Feser-Clear Feser One Coolant Clear/UV Blue 1L
MK-1 7/16" ID (5/8" OD) Masterkleer General Purpose Clear PVC Tubing x 2
Scythe S-FLEX 120mm Fan (1200 RPM, SFF21E) x 2
1/2in ID fitting G1/4 x 2

~£133 quid all in

Is that tfc rad as efficient as the dual one I have chosen. I assume the brand makes it a tenner more?

Anymore opinions before I hit the buy button?

Cheers

with a 10W DDC, two blocks and two rads you're going to have a fair degree of resistance in your loop so flow-rates won't be amazing. get a block that doesn't need high-flow.
