Who has SKY HD+?

So when you buy a car you expect the 20" alloy wheel upgrade for free, even though it comes with normal wheels as standard?

no, I wouldn't expect to pay £100 extra a month for the privilege of big wheels. You pay for the wheels on the day, like the Sky HD box. Not to then have to pay extra each month.

Thats what sky does, you pay for channel package, sky box, then £10 EXTRA for HD and £10 EXTRA for each additional room.

What a rip.

Read my post above, do some research into transponder bandwidth costings, the bit rates which HD content requires, then answer my second question.

There will be so much better deals with the HD package in the future.

Its not good at the moment because its all new

it's 2.5 years old now, hardly new..

I can't believe your all moaning still about the £10 fee, you get the box for £49. Some of us paid £300 for the box! That's over 2 years HD subs difference!

Freesat HD is free, no monthly subs. I don't care how much there bandwidth costs. The amount of advertising revenue, unnecessary installation charges, hugely expensive set top boxes and god knows what else would cover there bandwidth costs surely?

How do you justify the multiroom costs then?

I have never even thought about it.

You are not forced to take their services, sit back and let people who are interested in new technology subsidise it for you, then you can grab it for free in the future :)

You think its a rip off now, i paid £300 for my first gen box!

Now stop moaning ya skinflint :p

i'm not having a go at you guys. I'm just saying how I feel. I love HD, I love blu-rays. I would love to get Sky HD I just feel its a rip, yes £10- £20 is nothing, its the principal of the thing for me.

Until its dropped I ain't getting it :p

I got HD and + multiroom for 49 quid with free installation.

Loving it.

10 quid a month is nothing IMO well worth it.

I could have bought a free sat HD box then I would have had to get a dish installed.

To much hassle and cost.

If the HD box dies I just get a new one. Not with a standalone freesat box.

How much is a freesat box with HDD these days anyway?

I know the dish was 75 installed!

Yep I paid £300 for mine!!  :(

It has had its use, Sky Sports HD is worth the £10 alone never mind all the movie channels, watching cricket on HD is superb :)

I agree, the wife is a tennis nut and she loved Wimbledon in HD. TBH I had to get it asap as I couldn't bear watching football anymore in SD, especially terrestrial broadcast.

Yep on Eurosport HD the tennis is immense! So much detail compared to SD it’s unreal :D Football is the biggest one though the difference between HD & SD is unreal brings the game to life especially on a 50' plasma :D

Sky HD is an excellent service.

Not to mention discovery and history HD

Yes! American Chopper in HD and all the other docs are  Air Crash Investigation, Ross Kemp in Afghanistan, I mean there is so much content now, £10 is nothing for what you get when you look at the programs you get. :)

I'm tempted, really tempted. I wonder if they'll show the Tour de France in HD, anyone know if they showed full coverage last year in HD?

Tour de France is definitely being shot in HD. Its availability over here will depend on rights i guess.

I love watching a show then realising that channel has a HD service too, and switching over to watch it in full crystal clear quality. I love Sky+ HD, such a great package. Watched Resi Evil in HD a few weeks back, the extra detail made it much better!

not sure if this is old news, but it's £29 from a high street store that is similar to Indian cuisine who happens to sell tellys.
you have to buy a telly at the same time though.

can't say I'm that fussed about HD football or HD lions eating antelope,
or spending real money for that matter, so I'll be waiting for a bit longer yet.
