Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Im tempted to order the TE stick from another reputable supplier showing as in stock, but they havent discounted them at all from the £149.99, its a lot of wonga for a stick when the stick ive currently got works well though.

Its a conundrum, do i wait and possibly miss out on my order, or order and end up with two? :P

The TE Stick which was on Ebay sold lastnight for £400

I looked through completed listings on search term 'streetfighter stick' and also 'streetfighter tournament' and the most I saw was £345. That particular auction used the feature to hide bidders ID so there's about 99.99% chance that most of the bids were fake ones (shill bidding) just to bump up the price towards the end of the auction. The hope there is that some real bidder might jump in at the inflated price. If so, the seller wins. If not he still wins, the seller simply reports unpaid item on his winning shill account and he gets his final value fees refunded a few weeks later and simpy relists in the mean time.

If these are as moddable as Markman says they are should be able to get the same stick and sanwa buttons and just swap them over giving you same controls but for less cash only difference is the shape of the stick its self which if personal prefference anyways (probabily lots of other difference but where the important stuff is the button and sticks they will be the same

stick and 8 buttons same as in the te will set you back about £30 + postage

Gonna order one of the standards and check if so ill order the standard mod it as i prefer a smaller base anyway and save £50

watch this space for my home made stick :) already had the buttons and mycustom printed artwork for a coupl of months:D (just no good with wood, so i keep putting it off!!!)

anyway, modding a stick voids your warranty, costs a few quid, most people don't even know it can be done and can be dead tricky depending on wheter it's a straight swap, pad hack, dedicated board etc....
my point is, for the vast majority, the extra cash is preferable to the extra hassle.

excuse my typing, alldone on ps3 pad!

Do MadCatz have a history of putting out good products? I've not really seen them mentioned on these forums for a good company to buy peripherals from but suddenly they make this SF4 stick and they are the best thing since sliced bread ;)

I've never owned one of their products and never noticed anyone here saying they did before either.

Not really, madcatz have a reputation for pumping out utter poop.
Own personal experience but madcatz have been one to avoid since a memory card by them cost mne my complete FF7 save :(
These sticks to look out of the norm for the trash they normally pump out tbh.

Game shipped too :)
Game and no pad :( lol torture, might high street it on release for a standard stick, cant find a Hori anywhere

What would be a PS3 equivalent though?

Hori Fighting Stick 3. (Available for about £25-£45 quid if you can find it in stock).

Bear in mind the 360 ones are "better" if you require out of the box Windows (PC) support. (I am skeptical if any PS3 sticks work in windows). Madcatz say theirs do, I am unsure how unless they have their own drivers, or they emulate a 360 stick when connected to a PC?

Their is no way it is over £100 pound better than your one (I forget how much I sold it for). Ah well, at least over 1 year after I sold it, it is finally getting some use :p

Few people having problems with the TE sticks

"Well my TE stick just completely stopped working. The stick stopped registering but all the buttons still work. I tried to secure the connector on the stick but that did not help."

"Eight main buttons and start/select no longer working after one hour out of the box. Shipped to MadCatz for warranty repair."

"The downward motion on the joystick does not work"

"After an hour of play in the middle of an HDR match joystick function completely stopped operating instantly."

"my xbox button sticks when i press it causing the xbox menu to come in and out randomly"

"Nuts how hold the Main Cover where not clued good and fall into the stick after open it / Fixed with clue and hard work to insert them back"

"After about 2 hours of play, I noticed SRKs don't come out a majority of the time, same with low attack to fireballs (fbs don't come out). I've been playing with Sanwa sticks for 2 years and have never had this problem before."

These were taken from a thread on a forum RE condition that the TE stick came in. Around 50% reported scratches over various parts and those major complaints probably made up around 10%.

Just a heads up really...I'm still going to order one or though I may get a hori ex and mod it myself with sanwa buttons.

There's quite a few people complaining about the diagonal directions on the fightpads as well and generally overall quality being cheap and well "madcatz style"
