Few people having problems with the TE sticks
"Well my TE stick just completely stopped working. The stick stopped registering but all the buttons still work. I tried to secure the connector on the stick but that did not help."
"Eight main buttons and start/select no longer working after one hour out of the box. Shipped to MadCatz for warranty repair."
"The downward motion on the joystick does not work"
"After an hour of play in the middle of an HDR match joystick function completely stopped operating instantly."
"my xbox button sticks when i press it causing the xbox menu to come in and out randomly"
"Nuts how hold the Main Cover where not clued good and fall into the stick after open it / Fixed with clue and hard work to insert them back"
"After about 2 hours of play, I noticed SRKs don't come out a majority of the time, same with low attack to fireballs (fbs don't come out). I've been playing with Sanwa sticks for 2 years and have never had this problem before."
These were taken from a thread on a forum RE condition that the TE stick came in. Around 50% reported scratches over various parts and those major complaints probably made up around 10%.
Just a heads up really...I'm still going to order one or though I may get a hori ex and mod it myself with sanwa buttons.
I would recommend that anyone buying a madcatz stick does not modify it for now (i.e. don't change buttons, sticks etc if you don't know how).
Madcatz have stated that any modifications of any sort = no warranty. On the Capcom forums one of their reps even challenged someone to send a modded one back for warranty and they claimed they would know and not honour the warranty. (Sounds like they will use any excuse not to fix it.
Technically this is normal, just seems a bit cheeky considering every video you see shows people opening the sticks up and boasting how modifiable they are.
Anyway, be warned.
