why no backplace for the 260's

does anyone know if there are plans for backplates for the 260's ?
i see theres plates for 85's and 95's on the way but no mention of the 60's

I read somewhere that certain Nvidia GPU manufacturers will leave the backside of the cards uncovered as it will apparently help with heating issues, if this is what the OP is on about.

Both my 260 and my 280 had back plates fitted as standard. My 285 however does not.

The 55nm 260's don't, as they done away with it to keep the cost down.

The 55nm 260's don't, as they done away with it to keep the cost down.

I dont think it was just costs, there are no RAM chips on the back of the 55nm cards, so less need for a backplate.
