Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Well I personally wouldn't bother. I would rather have the extra money now than keep it for that long. Your choice though. If you do decide to keep it, make sure to post back here in 30 years time and let us know what you get for it. :p

in 30 years time ill be able to project a 3d hologram image of myself into all the users homes to tell them :p

managed to get a shot of the ps3 copy today in glasgow
and i must say its awesome xD

everything is fluid and looks great. combat is prefectly refined (except ryu's special was far too easy to evade/counter). lots of challenge.

the only bad point was the load times, they seemed to go on just that little too long.

all in all though, ill deffo be buyin this.

had a go tonight before i went to my girlfriends for about 15mins. Was dissapointed that i couldnt choose Gouki / akuma as standard (needs to be unlocked). So i went at it with Ryu and Ken, awesome, just awesome :D

Load times can apparently be removed by installing to HDD.

I've read in another forum that the place that lets you order via SMS has begun dispatching TE sticks for those that pre-ordered from them many moons ago.

My order status at the place I ordered from still says pre-release. If they can eventually pull through at the lower price then I don't mind waiting :)

£160 for a joystick! You guys must be insane. That's the cost of a 360 or Wii. I think people here have been well and truly caught up in the hype.

Bet I can still give you a thrashing using the pad ;)

Jesus, now you say it that way, the G25 wheel costs about that much and that has two motors and stitched leather, kinda puts the crazy into perspective. I'm just hoping the place that has Hori sticks for a tenner gets em back in stock and actually keeps the price that way, i doubt it though.

Street Fighter IV stick proves MadCatz still makes garbage, masses of complaints

MadCatz have recently been claiming that they are a changed company, no longer do they make products lacking in quality, at least that's what they wanted us to believe. But the new $80 Street Fighter IV stick proves MadCatz still have a major problem when it comes to the quality of their products. Reader Ken R noticed that buttons stick, the joystick won't register down and right or down and left, and characters continue to walk forward or backward even after letting go and sometimes the controller just freezes. But he is not alone, hundreds of gamers are complaining of the exact same problems...

Here's what Ken R mailed us...

quote:

I learned something valuable.... MadCatz still makes **** controllers; even if they come with a hefty price tag!

The stick may look nice, but the problems plaguing the buttons / joystick far outweigh a “Capcom” logo and some kick-ass artwork. Buttons stick, joystick won’t register Down+Right or Down+Left, characters continue to walk forward or backward after letting go of the joystick, the “auto fire” doesn’t function 100% of the time, and occasionally the entire controller would stop responding.

I immediately went online to see if I was the only one experiencing these problems….

“Other users are reporting that the controller may fail to register certain directions on the stick or certain button presses, with at least one user reporting that the stick stopped registering all inputs entirely. Certain users have attributed the stuck joystick inputs to a metal washer that actually grinds away at the inner workings of the stick while in use.”

“It looks like MadCatz is continuing their traditional of making garbage gaming peripherals as Joystiq readers are reporting that their StreetFighter IV FightSicks aren’t working like they should.”

“Reports of a clinging issue in Mad Catz’s lower cost Standard Edition Fight Stick joystick are emerging. Members of the Shoryuken message board -- a forum specifically designed for the hardcore Street Fighter player -- has the widest berth of complaints, ranging from broken buttons to the more popular sticky joystick issue. The complaints indicate the joystick sticks in its former diagonal position instead of snapping back to the neutral zone.”

Well all the reviews seems to suggest it is easily the best arcade stick that you can get for the Xbox 360 in the UK and it's great to play with. I agree it's more than I would like to pay really but the fact is there is no real competition for it with a stick of that quality (according to reviews) so I don't blame Madcatz for charging the price they are (even though I wish it were cheaper!)

I've always fancied playing a fighting game with a stick as I'm never very good with a joypad. I don't expect to suddenly become a great player at fighting games all of a sudden, but I have a bit of spare cash and thought I would try one! :)

Interesting.

Sceptics among us might go far as to say this is the reason why they haven't made many of the units. If it's inherently faulty then a company would never produce tens of thousands of them as it would only be a matter of time (about now it seems) before these stories would start appearing and they'd end up with stock that no one wants. Makes sense don't you think?

It's only the £60 'basic' model that is having problems, the components within it are largely manufactured by madcatz. The £100+ TE stick is constructed by madcatz but the components are made by well respected arcade unit manufacturers and so it is more likely to be reliable.

Its only the cheaper one that sucks, still, the cheaper one is more expensive than the bog standard Hori stick but it seems not as good.
