A bedroom setup - Ideas please

Hi there,


I'm ideally looking for a mini setup for my bedroom to consist of:

Current - Bush 26" LCD TV
Current - Xbox 360 - via HDMI
Current - PC - via VGA/DVI

New/SH - Projector - This needs to be very quiet as It will be ceiling mounted above my bed, so shhh is a must
New/SH - Projector Screen - Electronic would be good
New/SH - HDMI Switch ( I guess I need this to split xbox signal? Or could I plug direct into Amp then take a signal out to TV/Projector?)
New/SH - Amp/Reciever


Maybe new surround sound depending on price really.

Or current surround sound with some JBL Control ones I have lying around.

Now the price tag, I have around 600-700 to spend pushing 800-900 top top budget. I guess this won't get me much new so maybe I should look at second hand for some things?

I'd also like to be able to buildup my home cinema with these parts so I don't really want anything that will hold me back and mean I have to buy again should I want to move this into a different room.


You might have seen this posted over on AVForums, but didnt seem to get any help really, hoping someone here might be able to help me.

Hint hint easyrider with your 399 projector + screen :)

I bought a PJ for £399 with a free 92" screen a few months back - I think its from the same place. Just checked the prices now and the PJ has gone up £100 and the screen is sold separately for £129 :o

Do you have a similar setup to what I want to achieve?
 
Im currently looking at the Sony STRDG820 and Tannoy FX5.1.

I see the Sony has 2 sets of inputs for front speakers, So I could also use my JBL Control Ones aswell.

Anyone have any opinions on this pair?
 
marklp are you looking to get a blueray player because if your not you can save money by buying a second hand amp for under £120 but it wont decode hd sound formats like the sony
 
Not looking for a blueray player at all really. But its maybe something for the future.

One of the reason I picked the Sony amp was the fact it can take sound via HDMI, or thats as I read it.

Please correct me if im wrong :)

yep thats why the sony is popular as it takes sound over hdmi but if your not gonna use this i personally believe youd be better off buying a second hand amp and then spend the extra on buying a better set of speakers
 
I would be using it for my Xbox 360, and I think it would be more future proof.

I'd rather spend abit more if it'll last me longer :)

Any models or makes on the projector, I do need something quiet! I read the infocus projectors are quite loud.

think the optoma hd65 is supposed to be a decent budget projector. have a look on avforums. youll find more information there
 
Reading some reviews it seems as if the fan is quite noisy on the model :(

I've looked through AVforums, but there is so much information on there its hard to find exactly what I need. I've also posted a thread much like this one, but don't seem to have much of a reply to it!

Anyway, thanks for your input, much appreciated! :)
